So I'm a "Phony Soldier," Rush?

Posted September 27, 2007 | 03:07 PM (EST)

As Media Matters reported today, Rush Limbaugh, on his show said that those troops who come home and want to get America out of the middle of the religious civil war in Iraq are "phony soldiers." I'd love for you, Rush, to have me on your show and tell that to me to my face.

First, in what universe is a guy who never served even close to being qualified to judge those who have worn the uniform? Rush Limbaugh has never worn a uniform in his life -- not even one at Mickey D's -- and somehow he's got the moral standing to pass judgment on the men and women who risked their lives for this nation, and his right to blather smears on the airwaves?

Second, maybe Rush doesn't much care, but the majority of troops on the ground in Iraq, and those who have returned, do not back the President's failed policy. If you go to our "Did You Get the Memo" page at VoteVets.org, there's a good collection of stories, polls, and surveys, which all show American's troops believe we are on the wrong track, not the right one, in Iraq.

Does Rush believe, then, that the majority of the US Armed Forces are "phony?"

Third, the polls and stories don't even take into account the former brass who commanded in Iraq, who are incredibly critical of the Bush administration, and it's steadfast refusal to listen to those commanders on the ground who have sent up warning after warning. Major Generals John Batiste and Paul Eaton left the military and joined VoteVets.org for that very reason.

Does Rush believe that highly decorated Major Generals are "phony soldiers?"

Finally, as Media Matters notes, just recently, members of the 82nd Airborne in Iraq wrote a New York Times op-ed, very critical of the course in Iraq, and suggesting it was time to figure out the exit strategy. Two of them just died. Will Rush call up their grieving parents and tell them that they should stop crying, because they were just "phony soldiers?"

Get the point here, Rush?

You weren't just flat out wrong, you offended a majority of those of us who actually had the courage to go to Iraq and serve, while you sat back in your nice studio, coming up with crap like this.

My challenge to you, then, is to have me on the show and say all of this again, right to the face of someone who served in Iraq. I'll come on any day, any time. Not only will I once again explain why your comments were so wrong, but I will completely school you on why your refusal to seek a way out of Iraq is only aiding al Qaeda and crippling American security.

Ball's in your court.

And no way does Pigboy have the stones to say ANYTHING to John Soltz's face. (Have I said recently how much I despise that fat fuck?)

2. A hearty salute to John Solz and please correct me but
I believe General Batiste was tapped for promotion to Lieutenant General (3 Stars) and passed on that promotion because he had no desire to continue "serving" the commander in chief and chose to retire. I guess thats just more evidence that General Batiste, a well respected and highly decorated Soldier who actually did something for his country is a fake in the eyes of a pimply ass slut who has been a failure at everything he has attempted in life except hating and lying.

7. Limbaugh's schtick is so ludicrous only a freeper type would fall for it.

First he plays selected sound bytes from his victim du jour. He makes sure what is said is way out of context but as long as he can make any feeble case against it he will use it. It doesn't matter if the quote or the sound byte is twenty years old and not even pertinent to the topic at hand as long as he can twist it to make it fit. And then the really ridiculous part, he starts to argue with them as if they were actually sitting across the table from him. He's worse than O'Lielly cutting off microphones. At least with O'Lielly the other party is present to deny the lies or to make corrections. With OxyRush it's all for show. When OxyRush guested on the Letterman show he was meek as a lamb. Dave told him 'You're just a big gas bag, aren't you?' Too bad the dittoheads are too blind to see him for what he is. That must be from drinking so much EIB (Everything is Bullshit) Kool-Aid.

Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 04:13 PM by JHB
Bang the drum, people.

Rush has openly "attack(ed) the honor and integrity of...members of the United States Armed Forces".
Let's see them "strongly condemn" Rush by name.

If they want to play this game, knock their teeth in.
See part (b) below.

H.R. 1585, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2008 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; as follows:

At the end of subtitle E of title X, add the following:

SEC. 1070. SENSE OF SENATE ON GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS.

(a) Findings.--The Senate makes the following findings:
(1) The Senate unanimously confirmed General David H. Petraeus as Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, by a vote of 81-0 on January 26, 2007.
(2) General Petraeus graduated first in his class at the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
(3) General Petraeus earned Masters of Public Administration and Doctoral degrees in international relations from Princeton University.
(4) General Petraeus has served multiple combat tours in Iraq, including command of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) during combat operations throughout the first year of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which tours included both major combat operations and subsequent stability and support operations.
(5) General Petraeus supervised the development and crafting of the United States Army and Marine Corps counterinsurgency manual based in large measure on his combat experience in Iraq, scholarly study, and other professional experiences.
(6) General Petraeus has taken a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
(7) During his 35-year career, General Petraeus has amassed a distinguished and unvarnished record of military service to the United States as recognized by his receipt of a Defense Distinguished Service Medal, two Distinguished Service Medals, two Defense Superior Service Medals, four Legions of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal for valor, the State Department Superior Honor Award, the NATO Meritorious Service Medal, and other awards and medals.
(8) A recent attack through a full-page advertisement in the New York Times by the liberal activist group, Moveon.org, impugns the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all the members of the United States Armed Forces.

(b) Sense of Senate.--It is the sense of the Senate--

(1) to reaffirm its support for all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, including General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq;
(2) to strongly condemn any effort to attack the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all the members of the United States Armed Forces; and
(3) to specifically repudiate the unwarranted personal attack on General Petraeus by the liberal activist group Moveon.org.

10. Bravo, Jon
He's become one hell of a spokesman for Iraqi vets. VoteVets is an organization very worthy of supporting and one of many groups that are doing something Repugnicans never will...remembering those who served...the living! These groups are in the VA hospitals and assisting families rather than cutting benefits and extending deployments.

Here's hoping KO and others pick up on this latest slur...one that doesn't slime a general/puppet, but the troops directly. Better than going into Rushbo's den of iniquity, I would like to see someone like Tweety invite both to square off on his TV treehouse...wanna bet Rushbo is a no show!

16. If Jon gets on Rush's show, he shouldn't explain anything to him.
Instead, he should just leave a very big, greasy spot on the studio floor.

I'm tired of talking about anything to the Rushes and Michael Savages and Bill O'lielys and all these crap-for-brains flying monkeys. Time to spit in a few faces and knock a few limp dicks in the dirt.

Soldier on.

17. This one ain't gonna blow over any time soon.
Limbaugh has gotten away with way too much for way too long. People are pissed off in general, polarized about the war, and even people who claim to like jerkholes like Limbaugh like their brave troops in uniform even more. And all that angry energy is just champing at the bit to find a target to destroy.

Imho, it's lightning-rod time for poor widdle Rushie. He just stepped on a land mine, bigtime. He dropped himself right into a big steaming pile of snakes. The angry reaction, from *all* parts of the political spectrum, to this latest hubristic egregious heinosity of his is gonna make what happened to Imus look like a temoporary schoolgirl tiff.

And I, for one, am gonna be loving every minute of it. Because it just couldn't happen to a nicer or more deserving fella...

22. Give up. Limbaugh listens to nobody.
The only way someone could shove his hypocracy in his face is if he appeared on a neutral territory. He gave up his TV show because it was far too neutral for his taste.

Failing that, it would take outright invasion of his privacy or personal assault. You would have to grab him physically and scream in his drug-deafened ears. And you'd be arrested, and be the next target for his backup, Ann Coulter.

So give up. There's no way you can get through to him through legal means. I leave it to someone out there to try illegal ones.
