Employees and Volunteers for Democratic Candidates: WELCOME!
I, for one, am glad you're here.

You're not just banging away on a keyboard for the gratification of your own opinions.

You're for something, and someone.

You're putting in the work. You're involved. You're active.

It's an honor to have you here.

I wish everyone else here was just as dedicated as you.

1. Now if they could just be honest and reveal their affiliations, we'd be getting somewhere

2. You must be really sick of losing arguments to care this much.
Maybe you should go volunteer.

7. I say go volunteer and you roll your eyes in response.
Sad.

Oh well. Someone else will do it for you.

16. I don't hide it at all. Check my sig
That's my main focus right now. As the campaign heats up I'll be devoting more of my time to MoveOn and other progressive orgs, just like in '06.

As I said in another post, if/when I start working directly for a candidate I will make that clear. No matter what, I will certainly not shill for a candidate without revealing an association with their campaign.

10. I don't care if someone's an operative - besides, it becomes apparent anyway
to those who pay attention, and you can adjust your replies accordingly if it does matter to you.

with you on this one, WP.

13. I have no problem with volunteers advocating for their candidates
But secret campaign "operatives" whose task is to shill on message boards? That's over the line, IMHO.

If/when I volunteer for a candidate (as opposed to working for progressive causes) I'll make that clear. It's only fair. Even now I have my main volunteer org in my sig (not that I get into a lot of anti-parrot arguments around here).

3. Good sentiment and one I can identify with
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 03:41 PM by TornadoTN
I normally have accepted a position in a campaign by this point in election cycles, but I've held out of it because I, like many others, are just to darned undecided to throw our support behind a candidate just yet. I miss it, but this election is too important to make a hasty decision.

6. Thank You!
It's nice to be recognized, even if you're nothing but a lowly precinct chair.

8. Agree!
Welcome to anyone who is working for a campaign.

But please let us know if you are being paid to promote your candidate online, its only fair.

Thanks!

12. If You're Not Involved, You're Part Of The Problem
Remember "DemConsultant" or some SN to that effect in 2004? He was a refreshing addition to this community...and wonder what's become of him.

I've long pushed for people to look beneath the beauty pagent...to get the fingernails dirty a little to restore sanity to this country. The netroots have energized the Democratic party, but there's still a lot of room to go...and the more the merrier. I've seen crimson red districts go full blue and the rewards that come with being a part of that change. But the work isn't done...it's always just beginning.

This is the time to take a good look locally and see how you can make a difference in the upcoming election. Helping "the undercard" is where the netroots and grassroots can have the biggest and longest lasting impact. It's where tomorrows leaders will emerge and Dr. Dean's 50-state strategy has helped create a "Democratic party" farm system now that was long neglected. But, again, the work is far from done...the hardest work is still ahead.

No matter who you support...go for it! Working for a campaign can be very frustrating, yet very rewarding. It can open your eyes and ears to a world different than DU or the corporate media and where you can make a difference.

Cheers...
