Ya know what's wonderful about the Clinton and Obama campaigns ....... ? |
|
The fact that he's black and she's a woman seems to be of little interest to most people.
Oh sure, we all piss and moan about this or that ...... who's good, who's evil, who's tough, who's hanging back ....... the usual mid-campaign bullshit.
But we have a black man and a woman running one-two for US presidential nominee.
And I think that's just great!
Can I get an Amen?

6. It's really an exciting time in our history. And I'm gratified to see that the |
|
majority of discussion that goes on regarding these two is focused on their plans -- with the race and sex "cards" playing a far less significant role.
That to me says we're ready. We need to be proud of our accomplishment as a country that we've come this far in such a short time :patriot:

Both have said that. Plus, those out there that discredit either one because of their race/gender would be doubled against them.

20. But those who dismiss a candidate for gender would likely already dismiss a candidate for race... |
|
and vice-versa. So, actually, there's little "risk."

25. I'm not sure that's true. |
|
I'm sure there are people who would vote for a woman but not an african-american. I'm also sure there are people who would vote for an african-american, but not a woman.
The likelihood that either of those groups are planning to vote Democrat is admittedly remote.

But Hillary is Repub-lite and Obama is so inexperienced he makes Edwards look like an elder statesman. I look forward to casting a vote for a woman or a minority for POTUS. Too bad I cannot vote for either of these two in the primaries in good conscience.

Of all the women in public service, why Hillary? Of all the african-americans capable of doing the job, why Obama?
Superficial attributes are not enough.

Clinton/Obama. Just from an odds-on perspective, based on historical data and precedent.
But history also shows us ANYTHING can happen.

That must be why Oprah endorsed one of the white guys. First time she ever endorsed a candidate. What a coincidence.
I did not care that Jesse was black when I voted for him in the 1988 primaries, nor that Geraldine Ferraro was a woman when I voted for her in 1984.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
