We stand by our Constitution. We believe in the right of free speech, in the right to a free press, and the right to worship (or not worship) as we see fit. We believe that citizens should not be subject to arbitrary searches on the basis of formless suspicion. We believe that people have a right to weigh in on their government without fear of censure or censorship.

But, unfortunately, we're up against a sizeable vocal minority of Americans who believe otherwise. That are either so afraid of terrorists that they're willing to give everything up to anyone who promises (even without any basis in fact) that they'll protect them.

The fact is that Americans face a larger threat from these alleged "protectors" than from the terrorists. The terrorists themselves cannot seriously threaten America. They can threaten Americans, but they can't threaten what and who we are unless we let them. And we ARE letting them, by giving power to those who would use it to their own advantage.

They sit in the highest offices in the land, government, political, and corporate. They sit on the other end of microphones, weighing in on the vital issues of the day with no sense of social responsibility for what they're doing.

Many of us stand in opposition to this not because we "hate America," as they like to say, but because we love it...we love what it could be, what it might be, and what it promised to be but never was.

We have hopes for greater things from all of us. Which is why we fight this uphill battle against the money, the media machine, and the lies and misdirections from on high. Because we believe that we have a duty to ourselves, our children, and the world to do so.

We really don't have a choice.
