1. I flew on a bunch of Chinese airlines this month and let me tell you
they are WAY better than the US airlines. They give you free, decent food on almost all flights, and they don't seem to hate their customers as much as the US airlines do. It was a bit of a surprise to me.

I had the exact opposite experience. Maybe I got unlucky, but my pilots didn't really have a clue what they were doing. Took off too early, landed way too roughly, banked hard and kept overcorrecting during the descent. The food was simply unseasoned watery congee (though, since they saw I was white, they did offer me some warm Coke instead of tea; I took the tea. At least they were trying to accommodate, hey?).

Chinese international flights are fine. The domestic ones? Next time I'll be taking the train. Soft sleepers are nice. Hard sleepers are nice too.

For my money, though, if you're flying U.S. to Asia, fly JAL.

2. FAA
Ah, that is part of the problem, but it is FAA and old equipment that they are using........

Alaska airlines and others are starting to test the GPS system, where you dont need the VOR routes you can bypass those, it would also save fuel since the GPS routes are direct most of the time.

:hi:

4. I thought the same thing when I heard him talking about it
The papers are saying the situation has eased, and here he comes...requesting a study. Which, I assume, will come back saying we need to expand airports.

5. Well, that, and
we need to update our air traffic control systems.
