Poll question: Who is your favorite TV newscaster/commentator?
I thought it might be interesting to see what TV newscasters or commentators DU members currently preferred to listen to and why. It was more difficult than I initially thought to name 9 candidates that fairly covered the main US networks, although networks outside the USA may be of interest too. Some are pure news reporters, while others take liberty with op-ed comment

I found this wiki site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_presenter as a reference.

Please feel free to add in the names of any others and/or why you enjoy your choice so that we may all learn.

7. Amy Goodman
I voted other because Amy Goodman is by far the best, imo. If I were to vote for someone on the list it would be Olbermann--hands down.

8. Another vote for Amy Goodman.

KeithO is very good, but to me the best was John Cameron Swayze.

11. Other: I don't like commentators/newscasters.
I prefer to read my news. I can read it, evaluate it, recognize error or bias, note good points and points to verify or explore, in a fraction of the time it would take to sit and watch/listen to someone use some event to provide spin, bias, propaganda, and "entertainment," as well as commercials.

When I'm reading, the author isn't in my personal airspace, and I can consider the message aside from the rest. I'll be done with it, and will have tossed it into the kindling or compost, framed it, or written off a response, before the talking head is done talking.

I haven't watched a single news program on television since the ten forced minutes I turned on a news channel on 9/11/2001. I haven't watched a television talk show since I divorced in 2001. I have never listened to any talk radio show, a conscious choice, outside of Guy James when he did live streaming over the internet on Saturday afternoons.

I don't make a good captive audience.

12. What no John Stewart? What about Kent Brockman?
I for one would like to welcome our new insect overlords.

This is fox news with the latest liberal outrage It seems liberals want to give NASA the right to abort space missions whenever they feel like it.

Lisa: One thing I've always wondered… How can Fox News be so conservative when the Fox Network keeps airing raunchy shows? They don't fit together.
(Lisa then proceeds to flips channels between Fox News and Fox Network until Kent Brockman takes the remote control away from her.)
Kent: Fox deliberately runs shows that will earn them huge fines which are then funneled through the F.C.C. straight to the Republican Party. Everybody in the media knows it, but no one has the guts to say it.

Homer: I'm sorry Marge, but I won't live under the same roof as a member of the liberal media!
Marge: You'll have to excuse him, he's been watching a lot of Fox News.
Homer: Did you know that every day Mexican gays sneak into this country and unplug our brain-dead ladies?
