Official Debate Thread- Tavis Smiley All American Presidential Forum (GOP Debate)
I didn't see one already started....so I thought I'd start it.

Mods, can this please serve as the Official Debate Thread for Tavis Smiley's All American Presidential Debate with GOP Presidential Candidates.

I'm listening on C-Span radio. I couldn't tell whose voice it was...but who just made the comment a few minutes ago, about Blacks ignoring real solutions to the problems affecting our community, just because those solutions have a Republican label.

51. Six of twelve showed up. (The twelve now include Alan abu Maya Keyes and Frederick of Hollywood.)
Alan Keyes showed up. (Haven't seen Maya.) Thompson didn't. Also showing are Brownback, Hunter, Tancredo, Huckleberry Weasel, and Ron "welfare state" Paul.

3008664, GOP hopefuls assailed for debate no-show

The four leading Republican candidates — former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Mitt Romney — cited scheduling conflicts in saying they could not attend the debate at Morgan State University, a historically black college.

The forum, moderated by talk show host Tavis Smiley and featuring black and Hispanic journalists as panelists, was to air live on PBS.

43. Tom Tancredo has no clue about DC voting rights....
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 08:57 PM by journalist3072
Says that DC is not a state....so those of us in DC are not entitled to voting rights in Congress.

Hello....we pay federal taxes just like everyone else. We are being taxed w/o representation.

And who the hell was that that said they would be more open for DC statehood, if we allow DC residents to keep their firearms..

And Alan Keye's solution, is saying that if we want voting rights, basically move to MD/VA....

So, I need to leave where I've lived all my life, and move to Maryland, if I want voting rights. Forget my government's responsibility to give me representation because I pay federal taxes.

Why should I uproot myself from DC (where I was born and raised) and move to MD or VA to get voting rights.

I pay federal taxes just like everyone else, and I'm being taxed without representation.

And while that's true, what about our government's responsibility to us to ensure we have affordable health care. That when we change or lose jobs, we don't lose our health care, etc.

Sometimes I think these Republicans believe the government has almost zero responsibility to the American people.

Stop locking up people you're mad at and worry about the people you're scared of.
