1. I am glad that there have been protests around Asia and Australia
to condemn the Burmese military violence against its citizens. I hope that pressure can be brought to bear on China to lean on the Burma's junta to yield to popular will, but the history of using Olympic boycotts as symbolic protests is not that persuasive to me.
