Listened to the first hour of Limbaugh's show today

After seeing all of the threads here today regarding his comments that have brought on all the controversy. I was out of the loop yesterday, so I really had no idea what exactly was going on.

He claims he was only referring to Jesse Macbeth as a phony soldier, not every soldier who is against the war. The clips I heard back him up.

I can't stand Limbaugh's ideology, but I think this has been blown just as out of proportion as the demands for the Moveon.org apologies, etc.

And the caller goes on to say "yeah, the phony soldiers, thats right. the news media."

So in other words, if you speak your mind your a "phony soldier."
He wasnt talking only about MacBeth, he was talking about ANYONE who has anything
to say that doesnt support the war.

made his living by taking statements out of context and repeating them over and over until they become popular facts - such as Gore's statement about "inventing the internet"- never said,or that Murtha claimed that our troops were "cold blooded killers"- taken completely out of context. time after time I here these things said and then hear it in its proper context, only to find out its bunk. And oh yes don't forget the one about Kerry supposedly calling all vietnam troops killers - NEVER HAPPENED but in Limbaugh's world it did - and the Swiftboaters capitalized on it bigtime.

However, Media Matters has a transcript up of his conversation with two callers. Maybe Jesse MacBeth had been mentioned earlier, but there is no mention of his name in the transcript or in the comments leading up to the "phony soldier" reference. I think Rush was just doing a little CYA.

But... at least that "phony soldier" had the guts to go over to Iraq and see things for himself before spouting off on something he knows nothing about.

I don't think Limbaugh has any idea what it would be like to wear body armor and carry around a 30 pound pack in 120 degree heat. For one thing he'd go down a couple sizes overnight from all the sweating and puffing. He'd probably need alot more Oxy, too.

Really, can anybody doubt that Iraq is hell for most soldiers. 120 degree heat, constant threat of death, constant visions of death? How is that not hell? It's stuff straight ouf of Dante's Inferno.

...Limbaugh then purported to air the "entire" segment in question. In fact, the clip he aired omitted a full 1 minute and 35 seconds of discussion that occurred between Limbaugh's original "phony soldiers" comment and his subsequent reference to MacBeth.

Sometimes I listen to limbaugh for laughs. But, I never take anything he says seriously. He lies.
