What did Bush finally say after years of stoney denial of obvious scientific evidence on climate change? “First of all, the globe is warming . . . . “

Sounds like he’s talking about leftover casserole in the microwave.

Today the Chief Environmentalist paid lip service to this serious issue in his address to the Major Economies Meeting on Energy Security and Climate Change . He vowed that the U.S. would do its part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He then immediately backpeddled, saying that any action must not hinder economic growth. In other words, big corporations - especially Big Oil and the automakers - are likely off the hook from taking any serious measures to stop the damage we are wreaking world-wide.

Hey, Chucklenutz, you know what would damage the U.S. economy? If the state of Florida flooded and sank and the Great Lakes swallowed up the Midwest, that could be economically damaging, y’think? Gonna be tough to build those SUV’s if Detroit is suddenly 50 feet below sea level. And isn’t Jeb in Florida? Last time I check he disagreed with your “sound science” on this issue. We’ve seen how you address flooded cities before and it ain’t pretty. Heckofajob, Monkey Man.

Bush can now dust off his hands and point to this meaningless conference as some kind of shining example of his stewardship of the earth. Besides, there are bigger fish to fry. There’s a $190 billion war budget to ponder and how to cheat poor kids out of health care.

There are some cats in the hood who just came into our yard to jump on HAC and Nosy would intervene and run them off. They've figured out that he's not here anymore (breaks my heart, and my kids are mentioning more frequently that they miss him, too), but they're coming around for the sole purpose of jumping on her. After the altercation in our garage today, I noticed that she had the other cat's fur in her front paws, and she seemed okay, just very clingy with me after the fact.

Here's my pet news: While lying in the kitchen walkway, my dog jumped insanely off the floor like she had been struck by lightening. Her mouth started moving crazily. I thought she might be having a seizure, but she was totally responsive. Racking my pea brain, I thought maybe she had snapped at a passing yellow jacket; they're all over the place here, now.

Got out the vet's number and examined here mouth. Nothing.

Later she started limping and holding up her right paw. I examined her paw and leg with my fingers, but couldn't find anything, so I got her on the couch where she held up her leg for further sympathy. After several more minutes, I went back to work. Wrong!... Kiko came limping to get me, held up her paw and let me lead her back to couch where she continued to demand my sympathy and attention.... hahahahaha.

This evening, everything seems to be very well. I am concluding that she DID get stung, but in the paw/leg. Sometimes it is very difficult when 'some people' don't speak the Queen's English Only. hahahaha.
