Furious. It is not a "sex" tape, it is a "rape" tape. |
|
I just caught a minute of Nancy Grace, and it is sick to refer to a video of a child being raped (or anyone being raped) as a "sex" tape.

12. Raping a child should NEVER be referred to as "sex" - ever. |
|
People know that rape is a sex crime - calling it "sex" is disrespectful and inaccurate.

And unfortunately, it's not just Nancy. Most of them are referring to it that way.

6. Yes it is rape. Nancy Grace is always choosing |
|
to sensationalize the strangest things, yet underplays this?
She's a mess no matter what angle she approaches a story.

...than that.
What a CONFUSED woman she is.

..Yea, you're right - "sensitivity" - WRONG word.
That's like using George bu$h and "compassion" in the same sentence isn't it?
Mea Culpa is all I can say.

Nancy Grace and sensitivity in the same sentence....Good one!!
(and even if it isn't exactly the same sentence, just mentioning Nancy Grace and sensitivity on the same PAGE would be ironic!)

13. Exactly. That's like calling a bank robbery a cash withdrawal. |
|
A monetary crime would never be referred to like that but it's not unusual for this type of thing to happen with a sexual crime.

She's not the only one that's said that. What was done to that child was nothing but unpardonable rape. Humanity at it's worst, rape.
Nothing less.

|
that her daughter was even being featured on worldwide TV this week!
She didn't know about the rapes.
How could you not see your 3-yr old child's bloody body??????? There is no way a child that size wouldn't have extensive physical damage.
The Nevada police seem to be believing the mother who sounds really really DENSE. I hope to hell this child still gets counseling.

First of all, how did this man get access to the child? And the mother never noticed anything was amiss? Was this child ever examined by a doctor for just regular physical check ups?

26. While I was watching the press conference |
|
I heard a couple of reporters mention the name Stephanie Allan (or something similar) and one stated that the abuse took place at this woman's house. I heard one reporter say "is it true the mother recognized the furniture as the furniture in Stephanie Allan's home?". It was very quick, the investigators seemed to get a little nervous when her name was mentioned. I'm wondering if maybe the Allan woman was a babysitter? maybe she was dating Stiles and that's how he got access to the little girl. The detectives said he was several tiers removed from the family (friend of a friend?). I don't know. That's pure speculation on my part. I hope her parents are telling the truth and they had no idea.

28. So how does a parent, or any other nearby adults, not notice that |
|
your child is being repeatedly raped?
That child looks so passive in those photographs that it's doubtful it only happened once. If he was raping her often enough to condition her to just passively accept it then where the hell were any other adults while this was happening? How does nobody notice this?
:wtf:

|
She is seven now. If the tape was made in 2005, she would have been five, not three. Doesn't add up, unless they were wrong as to when the tape was made.

19. Nancy wasn't there tonight |
|
You who are making comments about Nancy's show tonight might have picked up some footage of her speaking on a different date.
She was not on her show tonight (live). She hasn't been doing Fridays for awhile.
Someone else MC'd her show tonight.
I happen to like Nancy's show. At first I didn't much care for it, but she has her own passion. If you don't like it, don't watch, but please don't criticize her. You are sounding like Republicans. Nitpicking.

21. rape/violation etymology |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 10:33 PM by PDenton
"violation." That's one you don't hear alot of but is the for-real term. (in fact rape in Latin or Spanish is "violare" or "violar", hence the English term).
Rape actually means abducting somebody, usually women (Rape of the Sabine Women being a famous legend and piece of art). From the latin "rapio, rapere"- and the English term "Rapture" or raptor (a bird of prey) comes from this, literally rapere means "to be snatched up". Since the kid was abducted, that would fit too.
Sex actually means pertaining to a persons biological gender, only colloquially does it mean fornication or sexual intimacy ("sex act").
