Michael Dyson on Real Time and cutting off funding for the Iraq War |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 04:05 AM by BullGooseLoony
Real Time was decent tonight at least in that I thought a few really important points were made about the Iraq War- which was important particularly because Rahm Emanuel was right there to hear what needed to be said. I think he might have learned something.
One of the points that Dyson made in responding to the "supporting the troops" issue was that the Democrats need to decide if they are truly willing to "go to the mat" for the sake of saving the lives of our kids that are over there. And that seems to me to be the bottom line.
Yeah, if we Dems defund the war, we're going to get called some names, so we have to determine for ourselves if it is important enough to us to save those troops' lives that it will be worth it to bear that (ill-founded) criticism.
And it seems to me that it is within the responsibility of Congress to protect those troops. It is among their highest duties. When our Congressional representatives finally recognize that, they will find the courage to do what it takes to get our boys and girls home.
