Dance with me: Rep. Hall introducing legislation to condemn Rush Limbaugh
for his remarks. Rep. John Hall of NY (if you didn't get the 'Dance with me' reference, it's a hit song he wrote when he was with the group Orleans)posted a diary on kos. From the diary:

as a matter of fact, Markos...
by Rep John Hall

Dems ARE condemning Rush Limbaugh for his repeated attacks against our service members. Enough is enough.

I know that there is a back and forth about whether another condemnation is worth the time. I happen to believe it is in this case. Therefore, I'm introducing a resolution that shows emphatically that Congress will not condone ad hominem political attacks on U.S. troops. On Monday, I’m introducing legislation to express the Sense of Congress that this body rejects and condemns Limbaugh’s heinous remarks, and will continue to engage in a debate on ending our involvement in Iraq that eschews character-based attacks on our Armed Forces. Hopefully, this will end the back and forth so we can focus our efforts on ending the war.

3. John Hall: The Dude from Orleans
I remember he got really pissed that Bush used his song "Still The One" as his campaign theme.

4. Why get excited...?
You know what's going to happen. The Publicans, disregarding all their supposed high principles over "attacks on our troops," will filibuster this resolution. The filibuster will be successful, the resolution will die and, instead of calling the Publicans on their hypocrisy, all we'll get from the media is "another defeat for the Democrats," and "more proof the Democrats are impotent."

As predictable as clockwork, I fear...

5. There is no filibuster in the House of Reps so your logic
is predicated on a flawed premise. And for the record, I'm not excited anyway, just providing information.

8. Nah, this is probably a waste of time.
And Dennis' trying to introduce the impeachment of cheney has a small degree of merit: bringing the topic up to the American people; that is if the lousy MSM gives it any coverage at all. But as I've said, Dennis knows that impeachment won't win on the floor.

9. Anything,
anything this Congress can do to take up time and stop passing the crap they have been passing, is not a waste of time.

It's a variation of what your mother told you-- "if you can't say anything good about someone, don't say anything at all."

I think they ought to hire Tony Robbins and any other half decent human potential trainers to give workshops, schedule field trips to museums, form ping-pong teams and tournaments--ANYTHING to stop the non-stop enabling of the meglomaniac next to the red button.

sending in vain. John was my dream Congressman, well almost. I did email Bobby Kennedy Jr. asking him to run for the seat and as it turned out he became a big supporter of John. :)

13. this IS important
and is separate from the impeachment issue because this is calling out the republicans who were so ready to jump on MoveOn.

Let them show themselves as partisan whores who kiss the hillbilly heroine's ass. This is something that can be useful for campaigns in repukes' districts..

"why did rep. x vote to throw a hissy fit over moveon, but refuse to do the same for Rush limpballs -- a man who was caught abusing a controlled substance. is hypocrisy a republican value?

so, I'm all for this and dennis' impeachment move.

...because these same moments can be used to show which dems are too willing to play to the republicans... and this issue can be used against them to run a more progressive candidate to win a primary.

15. Kicked!
If it weren't for right wing attacks against the patriotism of Iraq war skeptics the skeptics would have been heard and the war wouldn't have happened.

The right is still getting away with stifling debate with the same tactic. The MoveOn.org uproar was used to get General Betray Us through the week without questions about the veracity of his testimony being addressed.

Democrats have to fight back. Its too late with the MoveOn.org controversy. Condemning Limbaugh is a great place to start now.

Limbaugh is the point man for the right wing media that has 30% of the public brainwashed. The GOP depends on this brainwashing to get their agenda through and to intimidate the media.

While talk radio broadcasts endless hate statements like "Democrats cheer when US troops are killed" or "The left wants everybody to be poor and dependent on the government so they can control everyone" the GOP sits back and reaps the benefits without ever getting their hands dirty. The right wing controls America through propaganda and the MSM never mentions what the right wing is up to.

Its time to make the elected portion of the GOP take responsibility for what its thugs do. If the GOP denounces Limbaugh its screwed. If it sticks up for Limbaugh the GOP loses the middle. That means fewer GOP, and a better chance for progressive victories. Its time to attack the machine.

It would be really cool to see Limbaugh get his ass kicked too!

17. Rush is a dick,but who gives a shit?
Can we get on with things that actually matter now? If the Dems really give a shit about the troops they'll try to actually get them home instead of focusing on the words of a full on shithead in a petty game of tit for tat.
