Bush Jabs at Democrats on Spending Bills
By JENNIFER LOVEN, AP - Sep 29, 2007

WASHINGTON -- President Bush said Saturday he will sign a must-pass bill to prevent a government shutdown, but not without complaint.

Bush lambasted the Democrats who control Congress for not sending him a single one of the dozen spending bills funding the day-to-day operations of 15 Cabinet departments, requiring the stopgap measure while they continue working on the legislation.

"Congress failed in its most basic responsibility," the president said in his weekly radio address. He said he would sign the measure Saturday.

The bills are tied up because Democrats want to add $23 billion for domestic programs to Bush's $933 billion request for the approximately one-third of the federal budget funded by the yearly spending bills. Bush has threatened vetoes on most of the bills, eager to re-establish his party's reputation as the place to go for fiscal discipline.

The president said Democrats are planning the "biggest tax increase in American history" to pay for the new spending.

2. This from the biggest failure of history. Yet again the tax scare, to bad for * most have figured
out that they didn't get tax breaks in the last 7 years. It was their bosses that got tax breaks and they had to pay more taxes so the boss could pay less.

5. It's amazing that the media can report this without mentioning Iraq.

6. His party's reputation as the
place to go for fiscal discipline? That was a pure myth, it was because they said it was not in fact. The dems should be hitting on that point. Spending only seems to count if it is for the people who make this country great, the workers. When they spend us into deficits for their global extravaganzas or tax breaks for the corporations or the rich that doesn't register with them. The language of the debate has to change.

7. One third of the National debt belongs to the chimp
from all administrations combined. The bold-faced right-wing hypocrisy is just astounding.

It should be rooted out of every corner of American life; and if we have any illusion we can work with these people, it should be tossed out with the trash.

8. And the Dem response should be:

"Once again the Democratic Party steps up to clean up the departing Republican Party's mess."

"Party of personal responsibility", my ass...situation normal; the Repukes skip out leaving someone else to pick up the check.

Point it out to every dittobot and "values voter" you know--shout it from the rooftops--write endless LTTE's and call them on their bullshit. It's time the Left started framing the message and quit playing defense.
