Will we be forced to swallow our convictions and vote for a pro-war Democratic candidate in '08? |
|
Since none of the leading candidates seems willing to commit to withdrawing troops from Iraq during their first term, is it realistic to expect that we're going to even have a candidate who will do so? I'm just wondering if we're going to be forced to put aside our convictions, and base our vote on other issues such as health care, repealing Bush's tax cuts, education, etc. I think it's pretty safe to say that whoever we wind up nominating would still be 1000% more palatable than whichever weasel the rethugs nominate. I simply cannot fathom the idea of four more years of rethug rule because too many of us sat home in disgust.

2. Find an anti-war repuke |

Can't be done.
At least a democratic president would listen. In fact, he/she by being elected might feel more emboldened. Right now, the "support the troops" meme makes it hard. The average American is still an idiot about that. I think that's why they continued the funding.

3. No, in fact this country would be a hell of a lot better off |
|
If more people would vote their convictions. Instead, they keep settling for the "lesser of two evils", and over that lovely cliff we go.

there is not one pro-war Democrat running for president. You're wondering if we're going to be forced to put aside our convictions, and base our vote on other issues such as health care, repealing Bush's tax cuts, education, etc. Are you saying that health care, repealing Bush's tax cuts, education, etc. are not part of your convictions?
Yes the war is important, but health care, repealing Bush's tax cuts, education, etc are just as important.

I refuse to believe any of the Democratic candidates are pro-war. They may say they are, but they can't possibly be. After all the hell and chaos Bush has caused, there's no way--no possibility--that any of them could be for war.
