Why isn't this woman in Iraq fighting "the war of terra?" : |

Jenna Bush begins national book tour ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Jenna Bush looked poised as she stepped to the podium, but she couldn't quite hide the butterflies as she stood before an eager bookstore crowd Saturday to introduce her new book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope." "This is my first day, so I'm a little nervous," the 25-year-old first daughter admitted. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070929/ap_on_re_us/books_jenna_bush_4;_ylt=AohKEf3862nX8DeUg7kCX8sE1vAI

11. Her book has a rather humanitarian bent. |
|
She's not her father; I don't see why she should have to go fight for something because a parent is a hypocrite.

I have a hard time dragging anybody's kids into things. She didn't get elected to anything. I hated it when they did it to Chelsea, it doesn't seem right to do it to the Bush twins.

20. I just AGREED that I thought she looked cross eyed (which she does to me) |
|
I just don't think that being the President's daughter means she should have to defend herself because she isn't fighting in Iraq.
Besides, there is nothing wrong with being cross eyed. Our mechanic is cross eyed and he is the nicest guy on earth.

17. And if your parents were in favor of the war |
|
would you be in Iraq?
She may be her father's daughter, but she is still her OWN person. Give her a freaking break. For all you know she may be agains the war, but just not publically vocal about it.

21. As long as she doesn't support her father, or doesn't support |
|
the war, no she doesn't have to be there.
However, if she does think the war is great and loves the surge and agrees with her father that this is the global war on terra...
Then fuck yea she should be there.
And I feel the same way about not only her, but anyone else who loves the war, but doesn't quite love it enough to be there.
Do you understand better MrsMatt?

25. The point I was trying to make is |
|
that we do not know what her views on the war are - she has not shared them. I'd like to give her the benefit of a doubt.
Although we are the offspring of our parents, we are NOT our parents. I do not share the political philosophies my parents did (may they rest in peace - I have no avenue at this time to try to change that), and I reject the notion that my father's political beliefs are my own.
Do you understand better?

29. She campaigned for her dad in 2004 |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 10:31 PM by nam78_two
Any adult working on a Bush campaign in 2004, that too in such a high profile manner, holds some portion of the blame for this disastrous presidency . Maybe she did so because of family obligations and secretly disagreed with every position he has ever held and is at heart a pro-environment, anti-war, humanitarian lefty (we don't know and I don't think writing this book is any indication that she is the next mother Theresa so I personally doubt it).
Regardless, she campaigned for him as an adult. If she is doing an interview she should be able to answer simple questions about the war, i.e. where she stands on it, given that a few years ago she was telling us why we should vote for that war-mongering idiot father of hers. IMO kids who actively participate in election campaigns can no longer claim to be completely unaffiliated with the political views of their parents. If at this point in time, now 3 years down the line her opinions have changed and she is anti-war, she can express it. If not, she is part of the machine that foisted this awful man on all of us a second time and she can't really be classed as a "child who had nothing to do with the sins of her parents". I would say she would be off the hook if she condemned the war now, but she isn't doing that.
I would ask any military age person who actively volunteered for the Bush campaign in 2004 why they aren't in Iraq right now, if they aren't outspokenly against this war at this point and I think that is pretty fair.

in more danger - either by her ineptness or just being the daughter of the Dimson. If she's a chip off the old block, she's fuck up every mission she was assigned to.
