David Horowitz's Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week - October 22-26, 2007
I kid you not.

From the Terrorism Awareness Project's website:

A Student’s Guide to Hosting Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week

During the week of October 22-26, 2007, the nation will be rocked by the biggest conservative campus protest ever – Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, a wake-up call for Americans on 200 university and college campuses.

Download: Full Size, PDF

The purpose of this protest is as simple as it is crucial: to confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat. Nothing could be more politically incorrect than to point this out. But nothing could be more important for American students to hear. In the face of the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted, the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves. According to the academic left, anyone who links Islamic radicalism to the war on terror is an "Islamophobe." According to the academic left, the Islamo-fascists hate us not because we are tolerant and free, but because we are "oppressors."

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is a national effort to oppose these lies and to rally American students to defend their country.

Jim Lobe on the subject:

David Horowitz “Declares” Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week for October 22-26
“This October 22-26, I am declaring Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week,” declared David Horowitz Tuesday in a friendly interview on www.FrontpageMag.com, one of Horowitz’s many front groups. “I will hold demonstrations and protests, teach-ins and sit-ins on more than 100 college campuses. Our theme will be the Oppression of Women in Islam and the threat posed by the Islamic crusade against the West.”

1. David Horowitz can
declare a Pigs Can Fly week and I still won't pay a bit of attention to what he serves up.

Horowitz deals in generalities and is a boring, pompous ass to boot.

6. Yeah, sure, but how many college students will be paying attention to him?
This is hate in its purest form, and I see it as playing right into the prejudices and fears of impressionable minds.

2. Makes me think of the old Tom Lehrer song
"It's National Brotherhood week"
National Brotherhood Week

One week of every year is designated National Brotherhood Week. This is just one of many such weeks honoring various worthy causes. One of my favorites is National Make-fun-of-the-handicapped Week which Frank Fontaine and Jerry Lewis are in charge of as you know. During National Brotherhood Week various special events are arranged to drive home the message of brotherhood. This year, for example, on the first day of the week Malcolm X was killed which gives you an idea of how effective the whole thing is. I'm sure we all agree that we ought to love one another and I know there are people in the world that do not love their fellow human beings and I hate people like that. Here's a song about National Brotherhood Week.
====================================================================
Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek.
It's fun to eulogize
The people you despise,
As long as you don't let 'em in your school.

Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It's American as apple pie.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans 'cause it's very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can't stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Moslems,
And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
It's National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!

3. Hate speech. pure and simple.
Even if any of this were true (and as it turns out, it isn't) I can't believe any campus would allow this.

Glazov: You have also started the Terrorism Awareness Project. What is this all about and how does it fit with your efforts to liberate the American campus from the Left's chokehold on it?

David Horowitz: This October 22-26 I am declaring Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week (information at terrorismawareness.org). I will hold demonstrations and protests, teach-ins and sit-ins on more than 100 college campuses. 5. Oh I don't doubt that you're right.
I mean the crap he's peddling is pure propaganda. BTW the "lie" about global warming is weird but I guess it makes sense considering the whole thing is probably underwritten by Big Oil.
