I found that out the hard way. He said some 'bad' things about DU, apparently, so he's not allowed as a reference. I personally like his articles but they aren't accessible anymore unless you pay at his website.

8. Is that "Loon" like a slur for Canadians or Minnesotans or do you just use birds |

12. That's "loon" as in short for "loony" as in short for "lunatic". |
|
You must never have watched Monty Python -- "Spot the Loony!"

5. I find him to be far-fetched. |
|
I don't link to him here, but I read him on occasion. He's written some pretty elaborate stuff. I'll try to find the one piece I read by him that gave me pause to ever believe him in his entirety -- won't link to it, but I'll get the title, if I can recall it.

9. He tends to pull stuff out of his butt. |
|
Once in awhile he's right, but he's in chapeau de feuille d'etain territory often enough that his credibility is iffy at best.

10. As near as I can tell, more people think he is not credible than think he is. |
|
I haven't read anything by him for quite awhile. I think he gets some things right some of the time, but I also think he can get pretty loose with his "facts". I think he has tendency to either exaggerate or outright fabricate.
I certainly wouldn't ever cite him as a sole source for anything, I'd look for coaborating evidence elsewhere.

11. Right after the 2004 election... |
|
When all here were simply in a fugue state, grasping at straws of hope while in a state of disbelief and pain, Madsen started posting here, making some rather ambitious claims and predictions. Trouble is, Madsen and his stuff is like a huge pile of manure that you have to dig through to find the pony. He got a lot of hopes up here and those hopes did not pan out. In retrospect, it could be said that he manipulated the situation and people's emotions in the service of his own legend.

15. well, now I'm curious |
|
Never heard of him before. Is he not credible because he's a propagandist, or conspiracy nut, or doesn't get facts right, or what? Someone clue me in here.

16. I'd choose conspiracy nut and doesn't get his facts right -- kinda a hand in hand thing with him n/t |
