Poll question: Strongest Repuke in the general election? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-30-07 06:46 AM by cali
Just curious who you think would be toughest to beat. I'm including 2nd tier candidates just....... well, just because.

1. I live in a "Kucinich-Paul" '08 election dreamworld. |
|
They both have about the same chance of being actually nominated. Paul would cause us the most problems and Dennis would cause them the most problems.

12. I believe that Mitt Romney will win the Republican nomination. |
|
I believe that Mitt Romney will win the Republican nomination. The Republicans want a nonthreatening looking person that they will prop up as a potemkin.
Underneath this potemkin will come the very privatization plans for social security and medicare and other social safety net destruction with more tax custs for the wealthy that the Republicans had with George W Bush.
Different asshole, similar structured shit.

10. I'm not sure any of them will be |
|
tough to beat. Every single one of them has deep and serious flaws and tepid support from their loony "base". I think the republicans have painted themselves into a corner by catering to small and shaky coalitions of religious fanatics and fiscal conservatives who seem to think the sun rises and sets according to the NYSE,regardless of what the economy is doing to real people, and paranoid warmongers who see the boogyman everywhere they look.I think this country has seen the pendulum swing too far to the right and is in the process of correcting that. The Dems(any Dem) will win the White House. Mark my words.

13. You are totally right! |
|
I look at the Republican field and I just don't see a "winner" anywhere. Romney kind of has the "look" but my goodness, how empty is his suit! And I think the Mormonism bit would get much more play than it is now if they nominate the Mitten.
It must be very discouraging to be one of the remaining Republican voters just now. Me, I'd stay home.

15. God, they all suck. Every single GOP candidate is grievously flawed. |
|
Some part of virtually all of them is repellent to their "base" voters in a primary.
I voted for Multiple-Choice Mitt Romney, but despite the Iowa polling and the fat campaign purse, he's by no means a shoe-in.
And now with Newt out the back door, they're down to less than a half-dozen bozos.

All these guys are lame stalking horses to make Cheney look like a real candidate. Fred makes him look young, etc.

20. None of them. The Dems have a lock in 2008. |
|
I checked Romney only because I think he has the best chance of getting the nomination.
As I said, in another thread, if the Dems can't pull this one off, they should try Russian Roulette.
They're facing a Republican party with almost no credibility, a lost war on their hands, corruption galore, and the popularity of a turd in a salad.
However, it's still 13 months 'til the general election. Outside events could change the dynamics or the Dem candidate could say or do something irretrievably stupid. Or, the Republicans could hit pay dirt while their mining for scandal.

25. Huckabee is a reasonable guy. Most underrated, IMO |
|
Mitt Romney is definitely hiding some skeletons. But don't expect anyone from his church to speak up. He just has that twilight zone look about him.
Giuliani is, well, an idiot. The moment most Americans get the gist of the way he treated his own family, he won't have a chance in hell. Not to mention that even his own New Yorkers hate him.

27. Giuliani has the deepest pockets of any candidate. |
|
He's being financed by the same people that got the Chimp elected in 2000.
75% favorable rating among registered Republicans, and leading the polls against the other Rep. candidates.
The bible nuts may not get excited about him, but there is something that could bring them out to vote enthusiastically in the general election: Hillary. (who they view as Satan with a vagina)

28. I actually like Huckabee |

except his un-Fair Tax is a total deal breaker, so if he can get me to kind of like him, I think he's a pretty strong candidate. As for top tier candidates, I have to say Rudy because he can 9-11 us to death.
