I like a quirky story as much as anyone but this story has no quirk to it. It's lame. Yet it gets two days of front page posting on CNN.

Someone's swiping toilet paper
Six rolls per week stolen from Wisconsin town's government center

Men's public restrooms are thief's target area

County executive vows to crack case

FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin (AP) -- Someone is either too cheap to buy his own toilet paper or planning a big prank.

Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel said someone has been repeatedly stealing toilet paper from the men's public bathrooms at the Fond du Lac City County Government Center since June.

Buechel suspects the person comes in once or twice a week around midday and gets about six rolls a week from dispensers. Some rolls weren't even full, he said.

The thefts haven't been a big loss.

"We don't buy the best toilet paper," Buechel said.

1. I used to swipe TP
When I lived in Reagan's 1980s 'New and Improved' jobless midwest. We usually swiped from gas stations tho. Amazing what poverty will make you do.

2. Ha ha...
The reporter said "crack". Seems rather fitting, doesn't it?

4. Huh huh. Huh huh huh. He said "crack." Huh huh huh.
(True Beavis and Butthead moments come so seldom in life, don't they? *sigh*)

5. Hey...
I was aware that it was a rather stupid thing to say. Which is why I said it.

3. "Someone is going to walk in on him when he's doing it and we'll catch him," he said.

An excellent reason to go in, take care of business, and leave, I would think.

Courthouse officials are on the lookout for suspicious activity. Do members of the Fond du Lac Potty Patrol get badges? Is there an APB out on Larry Craig?

At least he didn't say, "We're going to get to the bottom of this."
