2. I think most every junior high school has a class based on home economics
At least that's the case here in New York. Instead of having the students make a stupid pillow, I'd like to see a few weeks devoted to basic care and needs of infants and small children. It used to be that people learned about babies because there were always babies around. Now it's possible for someone to have no contact with infants and toddlers until they have their own children. When you here about cases like this, often times the abuser has a weird notion of the child's ability to control himself or herself and to follow orders. That's why infants get hit or shaken because they won't stop crying and year old toddlers get punished for soiling their pants.

3. Agreed. Most folks no longer have regular contact with babies. Don't realize how stressful baby care
is

4. We had a guy here picked up for shaking a baby.
He shook the baby to stop it from crying because he knew you weren't supposed to hit a new born!

6. There was a case in Canada
where the young step-father of an infant, put the baby in the freezer because the child had a fever.

5. ???WTF???
<snip>

Police said Williams boiled a pot of water and poured it into a metal bucket, then intentionally immersed the child. Her mother, Ruth Williams, said it was an accident.

But police and Dr. William Brooks, from Tampa General Hospital's child protection team, told investigators the injuries were "inflicted," an arrest report said.
