has the promise of free trade been kept? |

NAFTA's been law for more than a minute now. Has the rising tide lifted all boats?

4. I agreed with the spirit of Nafta. |

As many Hispanics that had to come here to work could have stayed home. I don't mean that in a mean spirited way. To me the idea was to send work there to help bring their standard of living up to a level similar to ours. Kinda like our better managed friend to the north. This way they would not be forced to leave a home they love just to survive.
It also would have been nice to have two open borders, with two equally decent places to live, or visit. Sad fact was no one really ever gave a shit about those Mexicans. As soon as the World trade crapola went through Mexico got bypassed for China, and places beyond. Mexico never had a chance. Hell we never had a chance.

5. I guess that's my point. |

I've got no problem at all with anyone being able to make a living where they are. I would add, though, that 9/11 didn't have anything to do with the process - the race to the bottom started well before that.

that free trade is just exploitation on steroids. It's kept its promise perfectly: giving to the rich with the sweat, blood and tears of the poor.
