Why such a passionate plea for us to have faith in them and to believe in their ability to find new sources for oil (this of course implies that it has not yet been found - and why do you suppose that is?)? Why the passioned pledge that they will continue to develop alternatives (and why would they want to do that?).

Who are they playing to? Why the need to communicate a promise that they will not let us down becuase they live on this planet too?

I have to give them credit where they are due it. The commercial went a long way in explaining to its viewers the levels at which we as a civilization depend on oil.

What they left out was the part where the worldwide production of crude oil is in terminal decline while demand continues to grow. What they left out was that every single day the consequences of oil and energy depletion will eat away at this civilization until it is devastated. What they left out was an explanation as to why millions of Iraqis, thousands of Americans and American and Coalition soldiers, and thousands of others are now dead thanks to a war sponsored by Big Oil and executed by Big Oil terrorists who used their money and power to stage a slow motion, SCOTUS-enabled coup d'état of the United States of America.

But who's counting the things they don't tell you?
