7. Steve Croft (CBS) is doing their best to make Thomas look good.
The way he allowed Thomas to dismiss Anita Hill as a liar. As I remember it, weren't there other women who came forward at the time who told the same story about him as Anita Hill?

10. She was very credible all on her own.
And when he fell back on the race defense, that pretty much showed it was all true.

13. But my point is CBS is letting it go...without mentioning the other witnesses
who came forward. The younger people watching this who would not have seen the hearings might be persuaded that it was just one disgruntled employee.

20. I'm not sure if they were allowed to testify. I think the hearings might have
been over when we saw and heard them, but I remember them as being quite believable.

at the confirmation hearing.

11. He struck me as a very angry man. Still trying to contain the anger
from his childhood, and even against his grandfather who he claims to owe his success to.

I also question his complete denial of Anita Hill's accusations. I realize some of her statements may have been exagerated, but in almost every "accusation" there is SOME TRUTH! I found his very deliberate denial of EVERYTHING to be too forceful..."thou doth protest too much". I simply can't believe Anita would have made that whole story up, and when Clarence described her has being agressive and never letting anything that bothered her just pass, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I learned many years ago, if something doesn't make sense, there's something wrong...something you're missing.

15. What evidence or reason do you have to believe Hill exagerated?
I watched those hearings so many years ago and nothing I have read or seen has given me reason to believe her less than credible.

17. There were other women who came forward at the time to verify what she said!
I remember watching the hearings too and CBS made no mention of the other women.

25. You misunderstood me. I said MAY have been. I don't know
either way. All I meant was, giving the benefit of doubt to all involved, and that after so much time transpired, some facts "could" be a bit distorted, but NOT the whold story! I don't believe there's any way for any of us to ever know the whole truth in that case, and I don't want to rehash it. I just don't believe Clarence is telling the whole truth. There HAD to be at least some truth to what prompted Anita to come forward and he is denying everything. That doesn't sound credible to me.

16. Yes.. I think he has lots of anger for his grandfather...
He projects it as "honoring" him--even to the point of having a bust made of him for his office, but I'd daresay most psychiatrists studying him would suggest it reflects a need to prove superior to his grandfather and the bust, a need to continually prove the elder wrong on a daily basis.

Clarence Thomas is and always has been a disgrace to this country.

Unqualified, undignified.

The fact that now, after all these years, he is still taking cheap shots at Anita Hill speaks volumes about his lack of integrity.

What a tremendously sad and disgraceful person he is. I am deeply ashamed that he is interpreting the laws of my country.

Yet another failed Bush legacy that we are stuck with.

21. Clarence Thomas is an undistinguished intellect who deserves to be on the Supreme Court
about as much as David Duke deserves to be on the Board of Trustees of the NAACP.

Please.

22. This was Thurgood Marshall's replacement????
Clarence is simply an angry black young boy, who grew into an angry black man. It is obvious from this interview, that he hated his grandfather and I am sure if a qualified phychoanalyst had sessions with him, they would find a hatred of his black mother who for whatever reason turned him over to his hard working, no-nonsense grandfather.

How sad that Thurgood Marshall was replaced by this man.

23. Robert Reich had a great blog post about Thomas and Hill today..
"Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, in a new autobiography, labels Anita Hill his “most traitorous adversary,” once again denying the sexual harassment claims she made against him at his Supreme Court confirmation hearing, and calling her a mediocre but ambitious lawyer. If Thomas wants to dredge up his past in an autobiography for which he reportedly got a million-dollar advance, he’s fair game for those of us who want to dredge up his background, too. At Yale Law School, which I attended with Thomas in the early 1970s, he was notable only for his silence, within the classrooms and without. He wore a skullcap and a scowl. After graduating, he led an undistinguished legal career. Under Reagan, he ran the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission without interest or vigor, and was tapped by Reagan for the Supreme Court only because he was a black conservative. Since then, Thomas has spoken rarely from the bench, asked few questions of lawyers appearing before the Court, and has issued opinions often lacking clarity or coherence. By contrast, Anita Hill has had a distinguished career as a lawyer and legal scholar, teaching and publishing on issues ranging from legal contracts to discrimination. She was my colleague on the faculty of Brandeis, and I know few people with more integrity. There’s not the slightest doubt in my mind that she told the precise truth at Thomas’s confirmation hearing, about the lurid sexual comments and advances he made to her. In my view, he was unqualified then to be a Supreme Court justice, and America is much the worse for the ease by which the Senate was intimidated into confirming him by his claim of being subjected to a “high-tech lynching.” "

Besides, Thomas is and was completely unqualified to serve on the Supreme Court.
