Bush so pathetic, his family rarely mentioned anymore
A few years back when the idea of Hillary for President
was just beginning to make headlines, there was talk of
George's better half (literally), Laura was being mentioned
as a possible candidate, mostly as a counter to Hillary but
at the time it sounded feasible. Also, his Lil brother from
Florida, Jeb, was being mentioned as a possible GOP prez
candidate. Why not? His daughters have rarely been mentioned
for any
reason, although Jenna is mentioned occasionally for some
petty
news clip. If we are even marginally lucky, no one with that
last
name will ever be more politically significant than maybe city
council
or mayor of Crawford, Texas. THAT NAME is seriously tarnished
and
deservedly so!

1. Welcome to DU!
I hope that you are right that nobody in that family will ever be politically significant again!

Please do not change the font you are posting in. Anything other than the default is distracting.

6. Laura for prez??
Hi BNB,

I do not have anything relating Laura Bush's potential
run for office, but I heard about it on various news
outlets two or three years back, shortly after America's
voters backed the Supreme Court's appointment of 2000.
I never thought too much about it and still believe it
was a mention as a possible counter to Hillary's intent to
run.

Yeah, I remember the buzz a few years back about Laura or Condi for prez in '08 ... made me slightly ill.

15. I don't think you can talk about Laura as presidential material
in anything remotely resembling "news." I would venture to guess the WND article became the source of further mentions sourced to "some folks say..."

Don't you remember at the same time there was also a bit of a flurry about changing the constitution so Ahnold could run for prez?

17. Laura just mentioned to humanize George, Ahnold wishes!!
Hi TDR,

Thanks for helping me verify the "Laura for Prez"
ooze news.
I knew that Laura thing was being kicked about for a while but
had no stories in support of it.
I DO remember the mention of Constitutional change for Ahnold,
which also would have affected Michigan Gov Jennifer Gran. who
is Canadian and fairly popular Dem. Me thinks Ahnold is just
fine where he is now. No more actors please - at least for a
while.

12. I remember some mindless speculation about a possible run for Laura. . .
mostly back in 2005, early on in those heady "mandate" days, but haven't heard anything about it since, not even in The Onion.

I Googled it, came up with one article, a puff piece from World Net Daily dated May 26, 2005.

It can be found here: www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44447

ELECTION 2008

Laura Bush for president?

Speculation begins as first lady shifting into high-profile mode

Those who follow American politics have no doubt noticed a new, high-profile role for first lady Laura Bush in her husband's second term.

She's taking trips to hotspots such as the Middle East, making risqué jokes about her husband and even questioning how the Secret Service recently handled President Bush's protection during a flight scare over Washington.

The "New Laura" has some people asking questions if there's a designed reason for her new outspokenness.

"Why is Laura Bush suddenly so high profile?" asked WND founder Joseph Farah on his WorldNetDaily RadioActive program. "Is she being groomed for something?"

Could that something be the presidency?

5. I think the name 'Bush' is going to be radioactive for a while
Not only because of Shrub, but people are starting to catch on to what his father did.

And Floridians will educate the country on what Jeb means to them. Also, Jeb was in charge of Florida during the 2000 election.

And we're all still seething about that little episode.

7. Hi appalachianguy
It isn't so surprising I guess. I hope it stays that way and we don't have Jeb running in a few years!

16. I know she's not family, but you don't hear the hypothetical...
Condi vs. Hillary nonsense anymore either. Ms. Rice is possibly the most irrelevant Sec of State in American history. Goodbye to bad rubbish, I say.
