How long has it been since you read The Declaration of Independence?

Have you read it since our King George was crowned by SCOTUS?

Do you recall that the document contains a list of grievances?

Drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is at once the nation's most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson's most enduring monument. Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases, Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people. The political philosophy of the Declaration was not new; its ideals of individual liberty had already been expressed by John Locke and the Continental philosophers. What Jefferson did was to summarize this philosophy in "self-evident truths" and set forth a list of grievances against the King in order to justify before the world the breaking of ties between the colonies and the mother country. THE GAME: It is a simple game. Using The Declaration of Independence simply list those grievances as listed by our founding fathers that you feel are relevant today. What has this president done or what policies has he adopted or employed that are eerily similar to King George's efforts of control and abuses of power?

EXAMPLE:

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

THE WINNER: WE THE PEOPLE. Hopefully we all will be the winners. If we take the time to remember our purpose, our unalienable rights and what our fore fathers did for us and fought against. But simply remembering is not enough. Play this with your friends, pass this along to everyone you know and ask them to make a list of their own, to remember what our nation is all about, to remember why the Revolutionary War was fought.

THE LOSER: Any politician that shares the philosophies of this administration, that considers corporate interests superior to the rights and the needs of the citizens, that thinks the crown is beyond reproach and all powerful.


We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed ...
