Mayor Daley: "we have cameras programmed to detect SUSPICIOUS behavior."

I heard him say words to that effect over the weekend on the radio.

here's the context: upon installation of a new set of surveillance video cameras on the downtown lakeshore, Daley touted this development by mentioning that these cameras are equipped with software that can detect "suspicious behavior."

that's right.

he went on to say how wonderful this is, because you don't have to have people sitting in front of cameras to find said behaviors.

anybody else catch this, or hear of such software?

I wonder who's writing these programs?

They use it in busy downtown areas. If (when) fights break out, there's supposed ring an alarm or such, and then a real person can take a look at it.

I'll betcha ten bucks they won't ever use it on credit cards or ATMs.

sure, but they will spy on you to see if you 'publicly' misbehave. Perhaps set up shop in Hollywood with the cams:)
