Was Dragging Death a Hate Crime?

Authorities are trying to determine if race was a factor in the beating and dragging death of a black man in Yuba City early Saturday morning.

Yuba City residents Aaron Richard Ouelette, 21, and Michael Angelo Sanudo, 20, remain jailed on suspicion of murder, robbery, gang affiliation and parole violation. The suspects are accused of robbing, beating, and running over the victim, who was dragged face down under the truck for possibly several blocks. Bail for Ouelette and Sanudo has been set at $1 million each.

Yuba City police are not publicly identifying the victim, who was in his 30s, until relatives can be notified.

Carl Adams, Sutter County District Attorney said charges wouldn't be filed until investigators' reports had been reviewed.

3. I read in another report that made it sound like the dragging may have been accidental.

As in, the guy got trapped under the vehicle when they ran over him. Of course, they had already run over him a couple of times at this point. Sick, sick, sick.

It's disgraceful. Those guys who did this are evil people, there's no other explanation for it. I would not be surprised to hear that their evil hatred was based on the victim's skin color.

I hope the poor guy rests in peace, and is in a far, far better place than we are.

How much hate do you have to have in your heart to do something like this to another living being? Be they animal or human, I just can't understand how anyone could do this to another.

It's so sad and disturbing. :(
