The Trials of Henry Kissinger.
This is a documentary that is premiering on Linktv right now.

If you get Linktv, I suggest you watch this.

1. It is an intense film.
It is the true story of many of the things that went wrong in America in the late '60s. The deaths of Martin and Robert in 1968 opened the door for one of the darkest forces in our nation's history to grab power. Kissinger was worse than Nixon, in my opinion. Nixon had a diseased conscience, Henry had none.

3. The parallels.
It's uncanny to see the similarities between what happened back then and now. The media. The foreign relations. The way we gave the green light to invade East Timore.

And to compare these things with those which may be about to happen.

What frightens me the most is how similar things still are. And how those who committed the crimes have gone unpunished. I feel quite hopeless.

Also, I find it interesting that Christopher Hitchins is the author of the book that was used to create this documentary. I need to review how I perceive his take on politics.

And to think that I took engineering courses from men who piloted those planes in Vietnam. Napalm murderers.

I worry.

4. Exactly.
You have hit the nail on the head: the uncanny similarities between then and now are important for us to recognize. In fact, today is exactly what it is, as a direct consequence of yesterday being exactly what it was -- and the actions of a vicious snake like Kissinger, who lacked conscience, planted the seeds that are producing the poison fruits today. When president Bush spoke about Vietnam recently, and compared it to Iraq today, then we would be foolish not to look at Cambodia yesterday to understand Iran today.

The documentary is, in my opinion, better than Hitchens' book. But I may not be fully objective on that. Hitchens is a person who, though once very intelligent, has reduced his abilities by years of substance abuse. Many a smart lad with great potential has wasted their life with alcohol.
