WASHINGTON - Ford Motor Co. paid Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock $100,000 to lobby against tougher federal fuel economy standards, according to a disclosure form.

In June, the Senate approved legislation requiring the auto industry to produce more fuel-efficient vehicles. Automakers have pushed more modest standards, contending the Senate bill would be extremely costly and limit consumers' choices.

In addition to fuel economy standards the firm lobbied Congress on energy tax legislation and health care legislation, according to the disclosure form posted online Aug. 10 by the Senate's public records office.

Among those registered to lobby for the company was Aleix Jarvis, former legislative director for Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
