This quote from Obama is part of why I have trouble with him |
|
"...The issue is not going to be who has these particular plans. It has to do with who can inspire and mobilize the American people to get it done and open up the process...”
I don't want a cheerleader or a mascot in the Oval Office. I want someone on top of the issues who knows where to go for advice, and actually has developed plans.
We already have a cheerleader in the WH. I don't want another. Not even a well-intentioned one.

2. Quotes like that by Obama, are exactly why I say he's intellectually lazy |
|
He wants to ride into the White House on some broad "ordasity of hope" message.
Well, I'm going to need more than "ordasity of hope" to get me to the polls and cast my vote for someone.
I need to know that the candidate I vote for knows the issues, has a real grasp of policy, and is not afraid to do nuance.
I don't see that in Obama.

7. Have you read his book? Have you compared it to Hillary's book? |
|
Or to Edwards's book?
Oh, wait. You just hear what their speech writers put into their mouths.
And Obama is the intellectually lazy one?
There's something to be said for looking carefully at the talent from which a candidate draws. Because how they do that matters. But I don't see how Obama gets labelled as intellectually lazy.

9. Show me a candidate whose book wasn't ghost written |
|
And I'll show you a candidate who writes his own stump speeches.

10. See, that's one difference with Obama: he wrote his own book. |
|
He didn't need a ghost writer. Yet here he is, being called "intellectually lazy" when compared to politicians who rely on ghost writers.
I'm happy to hear arguments that we don't need an intellectual in the White House. We don't need someone who taught Constitutional law. We don't need someone who can write their own books.
But in the rare case when we have such a candidate running -- and with Obama we do -- I don't want to hear them being called intellectually lazy by those who support candidates who haven't come close to that.

12. You wouldn't happen to have a cite handy for that would you? |
|
If anything, I wouldn't think a first term senator that sprinted into a presidential contest would have time to write an entire book.

13. Google it, and you'll get dozens of cites. Obama wrote his first book before running for office... |
|
It's not at all unusual for a politician to write. Many have. Jefferson. Lincoln. Teddy Roosevelt. Churchill.

One would think with this "blowing sunshine" routine, he was running for president in a simpler time when the ruling class hadn't openly declared war on the rest of us.

8. Cheerleader for the best ideas... Hell yes!!! |
|
The problem is, we have become accustomed to a cowboy pResident who listens to nobody and does it all his own way. We have to readjust the status quo, and realize that a great leader supports those who have the best ideas.
Do you really think Obama is too lazy to say "it's my way or the highway"? He is making a conscious decision, and it is the right decision to make.

11. I didn't like him because of his comment about baby boomers. |
|
He said the fights in Washington were all Vietnam-era rivalries repeated. I believe that was the gist of it.
Like ALL baby boomers are identical. :puke:
