My husband's family have always been right wing/fundie types. In fact, when I first met my dh I didn't say much when they complained during "The Clinton Years." I was simply baffled that such intelligent people could be so misinformed.
Well, they are finally coming around!
My brother in law told me tonight that he was impressed by his wife's sense of humor. I had no idea what he was about to say and then laid it on me. He said that he told his wife that he felt bad "for being a useful idiot for the right wing" and my sister in law (his wife) replied "yeah, and not even that useful."
My Mother In Law praised Al Gore and spoke about Global Warming as she discussed what she had recently learned in "Church" on this issue.
I was floored! I still am. I had NO idea that they were awakening to this extent?
They all voted for * in the past two elections, but are finally opening their eyes!
Poetic justice abounds perhaps? I dunno, regardless, let's hope it's a trend!

And they are not the only ones. I'm reading more stories like this every day, and hearing callers on AAR who are "reformed Republicans" who cannot stand what the party has become.

I was concerned when a newspaper I write for replaced its liberal editor with one who has a conservative reputation. But then he told me he's not as conservative as most people think - he now opposes the war and thinks Bush is an idiot!

12. I hope my in-laws are coming around too |
|
But hubby and I haven't spoken to them in 6 yrs, so we wouldn't know. The estrangement began yrs ago but the straw was a policy discussion which began w/one of their a r/w email 'joke.' Some people cannot accept facts. :grr:
Congrats to you and your in-laws, MM. So happy for you. :)
Yes, let's do hope it's a trend.

15. Same with mine, I don't think it is because they are waking up |
|
though. I think that the policies have moved so far to the right that they are now firmly to the left. Former Republicans I know have said they don't like the direction of the Repug party because it is now borderline Fascist.
