And then I see the outpouring of heartfelt love and support everyone has given OMC during this heartbreaking time with Stacy.

Regardless of which candidate you're backing, which candidate you're slamming or poster you're flaming, you're all beautiful people and I'm grateful you're here.

4. True...it's amazing the way this ordeal has drawn us together.

I had to take OMC off my Ignore list to join in the prayers for Stacey...at a time when he was the only one on it! But in the end (and long before the end) it didn't matter at all. I cried many tears tonight when I read the announcement in the Lounge, but knowing I share that grief with so many other people is comforting somehow.

6. It has brought out good in all of us.

In the announcement thread, I lost it and started crying when I started reading the post of "Death, be not proud" by John Donne, one of my favorite poets since high school.

Told my honey of 13 years that he was the only man I had ever dated where I had thought, after a couple of months of being around him, "I HAVE to have this man in my life".

Not in the sense of jumping off a cliff if he wasn't there, but in the sense of THIS IS THE GUY FOR ME. I belong with HIM. He said similar deep meaningful things to me.

We had a long discussion and I told him about Stacey and OMC's circumstances as I had read them.

So I think a lot of us have had deep conversations tonight and told our lovers and families how much they mean to us.




I had a friend whose ex hubby dropped dead last week suddenly, apparently from the strain of dealing with the illegal pranks of the woman he was trying to divorce. My friend is the mother of this guy's only child, who is probably about ten, and she was going to have to explain to him. The father was born in '64 and had been trying to be a good daddy, finally.

7. We ALL have each other's back

DUers are basically good people, although we talk alot of trash sometimes. :grouphug:

there are many outside the US who support you as well. Just because there's an idiot on the front, doesn't mean the whole box is filled with idiots.

(i spend a year in the states, '94-'95, and it breaks my heart to see the country falling apart)

8. Thank you, gately. I found myself telling Mr. H many times how much I love him...

... but not anything about OMC and Stacey, because he already carries enough weight on his shoulders....

I think many of us here did the same: looked at our own loved ones and silently counted our blessings.

It feels like DU is a community after this, doesn't it?
