I was wondering where all those subpoenas were. |
|
You know, the ones issued, or ready to be issued, before the summer recess got in the way of investigating high crimes and misdemeanors and other things bordering on outright treason? Those subpoenas. Has anyone seen them? Were they perhaps tossed under the same bus that ran over the late Alberto Gonzales? Was there a back room deal cut? A quid pro quo?
Harriet Miers - subpoena ignored. Josh Bolton - subpoena ignored. White House and OVP subpoenas for documents and emails - ignored. Condaleeza Rice - subpoena ignored.
Those subpoenas. I think that contempt of congress was supposed to be the next step, or at least that is what we were told. Perhaps that will have to wait for the next recess to get in the way.

9. The Patriot Act, from its first mention until its passage - 7 weeks. |
|
The Patriot Act was signed into law October 31, 2001 as a response to the attacks of September 11, 2001; 19 days in September, 31 days in October - 50 days total. Vast and expansive legislation passed in no time at all. The wheels of Justice spin just as fast as the powers that be in Washington want them to.

3. This congress has shown you can just buck a subpoena and no big deal. |
|
They have snubbed the rule of law in the worst way.

4. They have been informed that Taylor |
|
would not enforce the contempt citations. It's not quite as simple as you're making it out to be.

Dems bargained away any investigations in exchange for Rove & Gonzalez resignations. Wrong.

8. No. Waxman, Conyers and Leahy all know |
|
that contempt citations would not be pursued by Taylor. I suspect they're trying to figure out the best strategy.
