22. I am an ENFJ too
I have taken the test about 3 times over the years and always came out the same.

One interesting thing to me is how I answered almost all the F-T questions as an F. The same was true for the P-J questions. But I was just barely an N because I answered a lot of the questions the way an S would.

7. Two times
When I took it in high school, I was INTP. The second time was in college. I was INTJ. The change was most likely because going from childhood to an adult I started paying more attention to the world around me. Like most children, I didn't really care much for politics outside of your usual school day and left that sort of stuff to the adults.

5. Check this out.

“The scientific basis of the MBTI has been questioned. Neither Katharine Cook Briggs nor Isabel Briggs Myers had any scientific qualifications in the field of psychometric testing. Furthermore, Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, which the MBTI attempts to operationalise, is not based on any scientific studies. Jung's methods primarily included introspection and anecdote, methods largely rejected by the modern field of cognitive psychology. <12>

(snip)

The reliability of the test has been interpreted as being low, with test takers who retake the test often being assigned a different type. According to surveys performed by the proponents of Myers-Briggs, the highest percentage of people who fell into the same category on the second test is only 47%. Furthermore, a wide range of 39% - 76% of those tested fall into different types upon retesting weeks or years later, and many people's types were also found to vary according to the time of the day.<5><14> Skeptics claim that the MBTI lacks falsifiability, which can cause confirmation bias in the interpretation of results with the terminology of the MBTI so vague that it allows any kind of behavior to fit any personality type, resulting in the Forer effect, where an individual gives a high rating to a positive description that supposedly applies specifically to them <5><12> so that when people are asked to compare their preferred type to that assigned by the MBTI only half of people pick the same profile. <16>"

15. The test is based on the FACT that people have personality preferences....
Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 10:51 AM by Flabbergasted
The four categories are legitimate categories and the results typically make sense to most test takers.

Jung was a brilliant psychologist and his observations are profound.

I had a professor who gave the test to prison inmates during his 15 years as a counselor. After 1000's of tests he swore by it.

37. That figures.
That may be why I almost never misunderstand/misinterpret your posts.

I constantly score ENxx, 50-50 on both T/F and J/P, only 'leaning' 60-40 on occasions when the context (role-orientation) influences it. Of the two pairs, I might lean more to P than J, but T/F is dead center. That I'm "at peace" with the implications seems to confirm the scoring.

48. ESTP
"
As an ESTP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things rationally and logically.

ESTPs are outgoing, straight-shooting types. Enthusiastic and excitable, ESTPs are "doers" who live in the world of action. Blunt, straight-forward risk-takers, they are willing to plunge right into things and get their hands dirty. They live in the here-and-now, and place little importance on introspection or theory. The look at the facts of a situation, quickly decide what should be done, execute the action, and move on to the next thing.

ESTPs have an uncanny ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations. They pick up on little cues which go completely unnoticed by most other types, such as facial expressions and stance. They're typically a couple of steps ahead of the person they're interacting with. ESTPs use this ability to get what they want out of a situation. Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behavior, rather than mandates. If the ESTP has decided that something needs to be done, then their "do it and get on with it" attitude takes precendence over the rules. However, the ESTP tends to have their own strong belief in what's right and what's wrong, and will doggedly stick to their principles. The Rules of the Establishment may hold little value to the ESTP, but their own integrity mandates that they will not under any circumstances do something which they feel to be wrong. "

Sums me up pretty nicely.

Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 02:50 PM by supernova
INTJs are usually called Masterminds. We're generals with plans.

I like Eisenhower and Stephen Hawking better as reps of my type, rather than that awful Ayn Rand. :puke:

Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging

61 69 12 17

Mostly I test out as INTJ, but a couple of times I have gotten INFJ so obviously there's some wiggle room there.

It's very unscientific, but it is kind of fun way to look at myself and the people around me. And I can attest that my natural intellectualism and unconventionality do put me in direct opposition to extroverted guardians. It really bothers them that I don't tow the company line. In fact, i think I've been pushed out of a couple of jobs because if it. :-(

58. I prefer the term Mastermind over Coordinator...
And The Brain is one of my fave cartoon characters.

So, what are we doing tonight, Brain?

Yeah, I can't keep a job very long either....3 years has been my max and that was at a library. A LIBRARY!!!! for Pete's sake.

I have a horrible case of blunt-itis, although the Spousal Unit has been a great help in that regard. I have actually learned, from nearly having my arm squeezed off, that sometimes it is better to just say nothing or to wait a second, THEN speak, than to say what I actually think.

Petty (to me anyway) social nicities irritate me and keep me from my job (which is what they are paying me to do, no?). I don't like most mainstream culture and so have very little to discuss in terms of small talk. Theoretical physics, weird forteana and my latest musings on the overarching social patterns thoughout history just don't make for easy conversation.

I love learning new things and then puzzling them out so they "make sense". My latest "shrink" tells me I have a tinker-toy model of the Universe in my head that I have to constantly modify/adjust and balance based on new and updated information. He's a great guy, doesn't try to "fix" me, we just talk. He accepts my braininess and isn't threatened by it. Ditto for the Spousal Unit, which is why we've been together so very, very long.

Last good book I read: The Introvert Advantage. Quick, easy to understand, and if you are in a relationship with an Extrovert, a real eye-opener.

I probably could'a stuck it out a few more years. Life intervened.

As for business....Most community colleges offer free mini-courses on business stuff. The small business bureau has tons of info too.

Also doesn't hurt to ask somebody who is sucessful at doing the thing you are doing, but you won't be in direct competition with.

Good luck. (read the book. you'll feel better. find it at your local library.)

63. Between an INFP and INTP
I was skeptical of this test at first, but it has actually helped me in my job functions.

It helps me focus on my tendencies that would otherwise work against me in my job.

64. This test should have an It Depends answer.
Usually, when I do this test or any of its spinoffs, I end up being right around the middle on *everything*. I dispute the idea that a person makes either rational or emotional decisions, or that a person is either an introvert or an extrovert. It depends. In real life, it depends.

69. I wasn't any of those. I was INFJ. It says that there are only 2% of us.

71. After years of being an INFP, today I seem to be an INTP
Tomorrow, who knows? I seem to be borderline on all the indexes. I figure that means either that I'm about as balanced as you can get, I'm one wishy-washy mess of contradictions, or I'm just one nudge from schizophrenic. No, not really. Yes, really. No, I'm not. Yes, you are.
