Telemundo ....... compromised by the right wing, too?
I'm watching Jose Diaz-Balart speaking on MSNBC about some effort the network is doing to get Hispanics to register and to vote.

Jose's a very good spokesmodel. He's handsome and well spoken in both English and Spanish. He's also won many industry awards. You may even remember him from his stint as the anchor in the CBS Early Show before Harry Smith, et al, took over. Here's his Wiki entry .... and its impressive. He even attended Cambridge in England.

So its all good, right?

Maybe not so much.

His brother is Lincoln Diaz-Balart. Ring a bell to anyone?

He's the Rep from FL-21 ...... as hard a right winger as any. He's right there with the likes of Mel Martinez and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Now ..... it could well be that I am painting Jose with the brush of his brother's stripe. But somehow I just don't think so.

Not being Hispanic, I don't know what Telemundo's bent is. But this sure smells like it could be a rightward tilt.

1. Telemundo is part of the NBC-GE family. GE, we bring good wars to life.
GE, top ten Pentagon contractor.

Quid pro quo, perhaps?

Follow the money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBC_Universal

The formation of NBC Universal saw the establishment of NBC Universal Cable, which oversees the distribution, marketing, and advertisement sales for thirteen channels (Bravo, Bravo HD+ (eventually renamed Universal HD), Chiller, CNBC, CNBC World, MSNBC, mun2, Sci Fi, ShopNBC, Telemundo, Sleuth, USA Network, Weather Plus, and the Olympic Games on cable). NBC Universal Cable also manages the company's investments in A&E, the History Channel, History Channel International, the Biography Channel, National Geographic International, the Sundance Channel, and TiVo.

2. Beat me to it. Also heavily influenced by the Cuban-American lobby.
Still the best futbol coverage there is, but step out of the room when they break, especially if you understand Spanish.

3. It would be if you were talking about the same man instead
of a right winger's brother. Give this guy a chance.

After all, how many of us have hard right wing family members, even brothers or sisters? How many of us have right wing parents?

Yeah, the guy could be a nutcase. He could also be one of the best reporters on television. We won't know until he has a fair chance.

I see a great difference in faces. Jose is open. Lincoln is shut down.

4. To be fair, I found Jose to be very likeable when he was on CBS
My local morning show is on the local CBS affiliate, so I just stay on the same channel for the network morning show. I recall Jose as a normal, essentially non ideological teevee personality.

And what you say about relatives is correct.

But in this day and time, my radar always operates with the gain control turned to high.
