Choose your words carefully, they matter now more than ever. |
|
The democrats do not do a great job about framing the message, and we all need to work on changing that, so please read this post.
We all agree that Bush is the worst thing to happen to American, but the Bush presidency is starting to sunset, and attacking him does us NO GOOD WHAT SO EVER.... We need to tie the Bush Presidency right around the necks of the Republicans, and we do that with how we frame the debate. By the words we choose.
By taking all the negative feelings that there are about Bush and moving them to Republicans as a whole we can make sure that the BUSHCO never happens again.
Right now we have a post called "Bush declares Oct. 1 as Child Health Day, vetoes children's health care on Oct. 3"
It could read "Republicans declares Oct. 1 as Child Health Day, Bush vetoes children's health care on Oct. 3" Now it is not just Bush that is the hypocrite here, but all Republicans, and it is still true!
The current batch of Republicans are doing all they can to put space between Bush and them, DON'T LET THEM.
So here are some tips that you can use to help tarnish all Republicans with Bush stank...
"Bush has ruined America." "Bush, and his Republican backers, have ruined America."
"Bush's war in Iraq is killing our troops" "Bush's Republican backed war in Iraq is killing our troops"
"I can not afford health care because of Bush" "I can not afford health care because of Republicans"
The fact is that attacking Bush is a waste of time, moving that energy to the Republicans can pay off in spades. Remember that Bush has not done anything that the Republicans did not allow him to get away with. For the first 6 years they held the cards and did everything he wanted, so make sure they get blame for it as well.
Bloggers, cross posters and more, your words matter, and you can help frame the debate. Most of America is pissed off at Bush, lets make sure they remember that he is a Republican.

Republicans refuse health care for children. Republicans obstruct exit strategy Republicans protect blackwater mercenaries
There is no shortage of charges.
And they are true.

4. Yes Indeed and I have to chuckle every time |
|
I say "bush's war" and the "conservative" trash who still support the drug addicted military deserting liar get their panties in an incredible wad. I would think they would be proud.
So be it. From this day forward it will be the Republican Party's War in Iraq. And it will be the republican party's caucus in the airport's mensroom.

Repugs will have to go through that airport (maybe even pass by that bathroom, shutterbug alert) and Question: Will they also have to detour around that bridge?
On their way to their convention!!

11. Hopefully some evil members of the liberal media are planning their photo ops |

It would only be fair. Senator Bareback ducking into the men's room, comes out saying its nicer then those in Topeka.
tom tancredo looking at the bridge and marveling at the work his tax cuts have wrought.

12. Importantly, that's not merely "framing". It's pointing out the truth. |
|
Republicans backed Bush every damn step of the way because the only thing Republicans care about is "Republicans".
They have no attachment to our country's people or democratic values. They are completely attached to their own power.

13. Change "republicans" to "republican leaders." We want sick and tired |
|
and looking-for-change republicans to back our candidates, and it's going to be harder to get them to if we blame them for following the party line (even if it's their fault).

18. It's more likely they won't show up than vote D, but the problem isn't |
|
the average republican follower. It's the leadership--and it's a lot better message to target the corrupt bastards leading the rank and file than to attack the rank and file for having been lied to and coerced and manipulated, in my opinion.

15. I agree on framing the message. It also helps to actually have a message |
|
I'd like to be able to say things like:
"The Democrats are preventing Bush and his Republican backers from ruining America." "The Democrats are responsible for stopping Bush's Republican-backed war in Iraq." "I could not afford health care because of Republicans, but the Democrats are making sure that everyone is covered."
Wake me up when I can tell people that. :boring:
