Understanding Dan Rather
Earlier, I finished watching, "The Insider", about 60 Minutes and Jeffrey Wigand, the Brown & Williamson R&D V.P., who outed the tobacco industry.

Mike Wallace (Christopher Plummer) arguing with Lowell Bergman (Al Pacino) as to why he won't fight for the Wigand interview to be aired, and chancing a big lawsuit that could bring down CBS said:
History only remembers most, what you did last.

Don Hewitt (Philip Baker Hall) arguing with Bergman and Wallace, after the whole story of CBS backing down from tobacco industry pressure becomes public says:
It's old news. These things have a 1/2 life of 15 minutes.

Mike Wallace replies: No, that's fame. Infamy last a little longer.

Good for Dan. Fight this to the end. Fight for your reputation.
