Splaining the democrat's 2007 congressional record for dummies
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 08:20 AM by Hubert Flottz
The Bush veto and the threat to veto has stopped the democrats in their tracks. They don't have the power to override the will of the beast. The democrats have not gotten any help from the obstructionist republican representatives so far, in any effort to thwart the veto pen or the threats from Bush. The GOP in congress are still for the most part, in lockstep with Bush on about every single issue that comes to the floor. PLEASE don't blame the getting nothing done and the "gridlock"(Greedlock) in Washington on the democrats. Blame the nasty self serving pen of G W Bush and blame his little crony duckies in a row in the GOP congress.

President Bush's Rare Veto

Mark Knoller is a White House Correspondent for CBS News.

It’s only the fourth time that Pres. Bush has used his veto power to block a bill. Though the children’s health insurance measure passed by a veto-proof margin in the Senate, Republican leaders in the House assure him the veto will be sustained there. It would bring Mr. Bush’s record on the veto scoreboard to 4 vetoes cast, none overridden.

He has far fewer vetoes to his name that any of his recent predecessors. In fact you have to go back to James Garfield in 1881 to find a president who cast fewer.

And all of Mr. Bush’s vetoes have come in his second term. He cast none during his first five years in office. During all of that time, republicans were in control of Congress.

EDIT...Next time a GOPer DUMMY tells you that the democrats in congress have done "NOTHING," point out the record of the GOP obstructionists in congress and explian to the dummy the power of their pResident's veto pen, ASAP!

1. bush hasnt had to veto much because for starters he has strongarmed congress
and has had bills generally crafted to his liking and also because he has used the signing statements as authority to ignore the parts he didnt care for.

2. How did the Republicans accomplish so much in the ninties when there was a Democratic President?
They did not have a super majority, yet they pretty much ran the show..Democrats were quiet little church mice back then. They pretty much still are. Republicans basically still behave as if they are the majority Party and results pretty much prove them correct.

6. GOP house: 1995.
As for insanity, that is irrelevant. The difference is that Republicans vote lockstep Republican while 1/3 to 1/2 of the nominally Democratic congressional delegation can be counted on to vote with the Republicans on issues of importance to the kleptocracy.

7. Remember the MSM
I know you would like to forgot such trash, but when the democrats threatened to filibuster some of the outrageous bills the republicans set up and finally got passed, the media was all over the OBSTRUCTIONIST DEMOCRATS. They ranted and the raved for weeks at a time about the Democrats obstructing the work of the white house.

NOW where in the news have you seen anything about the republicans, obstructing any of the bills, which are for the good of the country and not the good of corporations like the republican bills. No where. The public does not know that the reason bills have not been passed in congress is because the republicans, remember, the Democrats do not have enough votes to even get the bills to be voted on, are obstructing the Democrats from getting that up or down vote. Up or down vote, up or down vote.. how many times did the republicans scream that from the roof top and the media pick it up. Now nary a word that the republicans are the ones obstructing the work of congress to improve the lot of the people. Nothing in the press, nothing on TV, nothing on the radio...strangely strangely silent.

9. The "Media" belongs to bush's cronies and donors.
The democrats need to learn the word obstructionist, for when they get a chance to blast the GOP in the media! The media will do nothing but kiss the GOP's ass if the democrats won't defend themselves. Our party needs to get in the attack mode and stand up to the cry babies and liars. Playing nice has gotten us to the point where we are now. The country can't take much more going along to get along, with thieves and liars, who stab us in the back the first chance they get.
