Salazar: Limbaugh should apologize
By Anne C. Mulkern
The Denver Post
Article Last Updated: 10/03/2007 05:26:31 PM MDT

Sen. Ken Salazar dove further into the Rush Limbaugh brouhaha today, saying he'd support censuring the conservative radio talk-show host for his use of the words "phony soldiers."

During a conference call with reporters, Salazar, a Colorado Democrat, said he'd support censure if a vote were taken. None is planned currently in the Senate.

"Rush Limbaugh owes an apology," Salazar said. "He owes an apology to the men and women in uniform who are doing the duty that the commander in chief has asked them to do." http://www.denverpost.com/commented/ci_7073463

4. censure is correct.
Censor is the act of being subject to political, religious, or moral censorship (Example: "This magazine is censored by the government")

Censure is the act of expressing disapproval.

3. Rush is right

Congress has no business censuring Free Speech, but it was the Conservatives who opened this can of worms when they pushed a motion to censure MoveOn for its NY Times ad. The Republicans suckered Dems, like Salazaar to vote for it. Notice that the Repukes did not vote for Boxer's resolution which included right wing hate speech? When the Repukes refused to support Boxer's resolution, that should have been a big RED FLAG to the Dems that the Repukes only want to condemn left wing free speech, but Dems, like Salazaar, couldn't not see the trees for the forest.

8. The "phony soldiers" remark was bad enough,
the remark the next day responding to the Votevets.org ad, referring to the serviceman in the ad as a "suicide bomber" is waaaaaaaay over the top insulting, especially considering that that vet (I forget his name) got his wounds because of a suicide bomber, and lost fellow member of his unit to suicide bombers.

If Congress is going to stoop to insulting the First Amendment by censuring MoveOn.org for calling Gen. Petraeus "Betray-us," then it would be even more hypocritical of them to remain silent when Rush calls servicemembers who oppose the war "phony soldiers" and "suicide bombers."
