BRATISLAVA, Slovakia:

The last two Slovak troops remaining in Iraq will return home by the end of the year,
Slovakia's Defense Ministry said Thursday.

The decision to call home the two Slovaks was made due to the security situation in Iraq,
ministry spokeswoman Sona Baniarova said in a statement.

Slovakia originally deployed about 100 troops in Iraq in 2003, mainly for dismantling
land mines. They were stationed under Polish command Hillah, south of Baghdad.

Most troops left earlier this year. The last two have been working at the headquarters
of the U.S.-led coalition in Baghdad.

Four Slovak soldiers have died in Iraq.

Thank You for your help, Slovakia and I'm sorry for your losses.
