Ok, no more Hillary bashing from me |
|
I have "bashed" Hillary in the last few weeks. I am through. Everyone is tired of the bashing, and so am I. It is getting out of control.
Make no mistake, I don't like or support Hillary, but I will no longer engage in Hillary bashing just to bash. If she does or says something that deserves criticism, then I will do that, criticize, but no bashing. If Obama does or says something that deserves criticism, then I will do the same. I will do the same for all the Democratic candidates including mine, Kucinich.
Is that fair? Can I still criticize her if I have a valid argument?

I mostly stay silent about Hil, except when people ask for why I have a problem with her.
It always depresses me anyway- she used to be one of my heros...and the people cheerleading for her can't be dissuaded anyway.

32. My "criticisms" of Clinton aren't aimed at her supporters. My aim is to enlighten the rest of DUers. |
|
I see a repeat of the 2004 mentality: "Anybody can beat Bush" (substitute your favorite Republican for Bush); "Kerry is the only electable candidate"; "The Democrat who can raise the most money wins the Presidency".
This kind of thinking, as well as other illogical reasoning, anointed Kerry the Democratic candidate and gave Bush/Cheney four more years. I see Democrats capitulating to the Clinton juggernaut and giving us eight more years of a Republican Presidency. Even worse, a Clinton candidacy would bring out so many anti-Hillary right-wingers that we could lose our majorities in Congress.
While I agree that ad hominem attacks on Hillary are not desirable or helpful (leave that to the Republicans), I think a worse situation would be where DUers who have valid criticisms of Clinton would be intimidated or otherwise stifled from expressing them here on DU.

I have been guilty of "bashing", and I agree that it isn't helpful. Criticism, is a different thing. I am sick of Hillary being shoved down our throats. I want big business out of our government, and Hillary is not the right person for that.

2. Some will always say disagreeing with Hillary is bashing. I do not support Hillary |
|
for valid reasons. And I have actually defended her on certain issues but if I point out anything either expressing my personal opinion, that she is NOT the best candidate for instance, or how I disagree with her Kyl/Liberman vote and I do not trust her, that will be regarded as bashing

5. Yes, I have experienced the same thing |
|
Which is why I won't engage in the "bashing" I am tired of it. I am tired of trying to explain why I feel the way I do. I am tired of defending my opinion. I am tired. As reply #1 suggested, it doesn't do any good anyway, they don't listen.

Hillary has wavered on her pledge to end the occupation of Iraq. That little bit is enough for me.

4. I decided if or ever she gets the nod at the convention |
|
...from that moment onward I would bag all Hillary-is-bad posts.
I will be voting DEM in the General no matter what.
Though she is fair game as we slog through the primaries. There is so much MSM/corporate disproportionate representation of her candidacy, that I see posts critical of her as simply more Truth in Advertising.
Of course, not much convincing needed on DU.
peace~

I am going to have to crawl into a hole and hide, because there is no way I will support her, but that still has yet to be determined.
Spare me the "if you don't vote for her in the GE, you are putting a repuke in office. I have heard it, and it doesn't make it true, or change my mind.

14. Some of us have no reason to trust that Hillary will give us a good SCOTUS. |
|
She has proven repeatedly she cannot be trusted. She votes as to what she sees as a political benefit to herself. If it appeared to benefit her to appoint a moderate to appease the GOP, she would. And I am not sure that she would not support restrictions on choice.

Hopefully for you Hillary does bring the troops home, does not go to/contiune war with Iran, does something about the health care crisis, and can save the economy among all the other messes she will have to clean up.

I tried telling that to several Ralph Nader supporters; unfortunately they did not listen to me either. You may find the alternative againes654, to be far worse. Of course, lets see who the rethugs anoint.
I'm going DEM in 08 - regardless; though I will fight like hell for an alternative to HRC in the mean time.
I just hope you don't have to go looking for a hole to hide in :)

Criticism :I think my senator was wrong for voting aye on Lieberman/Kyl. I don't think she saw through what they were pulling, and am not going to support her for her stance.
bashing: My senator is an egomaniacal war mongering (female dog in heat). Anyone who votes for her is a repub supporter.
