Oh, cool! San Francisco is being buzzed by the Blue Angels. |

Try working through the horrible noise.
Try keeping your animals calm.
This is 32 flavors of wrong.

I had to let my four employees go home for the day. I just got through to someone on Gavin's staff and told him the same.
This is bullshit. But what do we expect -- the San Francisco Bay Area is HOME to a lot of defense contrators.

The Chris Daly I'm talking about is always there for the most vulnerable residents in this town, and the powers that be hate that.
He gets smeared but good in the press, and I guess you have to believe the corporate media more than you believe your own lying eyes to buy into that shit.

for the homeless in this town. He didn't send in the goon squad or go on camera to take credit. He showed up.
And he's done that over and over and over. For MoveOn's book, for the suicide hotline -- Chris Daly has never once said no to someone who needed his help.
Edit for language, manners, temper.

|
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 05:40 PM by renie408
and yeah, our dogs and horses are scared of the racket. We live about 30 minutes south of Charlotte and they have fighter pilots fly over the stadium before the Panthers game sometimes. If they get to Charlotte early, they fly around RIGHT OVER OUR FARM waiting to go buzz the stadium. It has happened a couple of times since we have lived here. What I think is really cool is that you can tell when it is about two minutes to game time because they will be making these relatively lazy figure eights and then they suddenly go ZOOM!! And they're gone.
We don't get out much.

I was driving through to Arcata and stopped on the GG Bridge to check out the scenery. Just minding my own business, and BOOM!, a couple of them went right over the bridge from behind me. I was lucky not to drop my camera in the water, but it was really fun to watch.
(However, I can definitely sympathize with the residents; my ears were ringing after 20 minutes, but I was able to drive off into peace and quiet...)

Not to mention, my head hurts and now I have to coax my furry ones to their supper.
Why not do it on the weekend? Why do it over a working city? My parents met during Fleet Week, so believe me, I have no issues with that celebration.
But this is just dumb and worse.

When it happens in Los Angeles, it really pisses me off. I don't want to see planes getting anywhere near high-rises!
And the waste of petrol is disgusting!
I love planes. I love going to air shows too. But right now we are having a huge problem with petrolium products. Are those our tax dollars being wasted? You betcha!

Fleet week is twice a year and has been for as long as I can remember.
They haven't been scheduling fleet week this time of year for decades just to disrupt an impeachment rally decades later.
Give me a break or was that post in jest, it's just too ridiculous to even justify.

For an air guard unit out of Springfield, Il. Usually, they were out a couple of times a month, flying extremely low over the poorer section of the city. I was at home with three children under 5 at the time. Lotsa fun. I used to freak a little when I'd hear of these planes crashing in another state. The assholes went on to be the unit that fired on CANADIANS during the initial Afghanistan occupation.
Frankly, I'm still pissed off at those bastards.

But this twice a year practicing drives me crazy. It's loud, I'm in a high rise and it's totally distracting, if not unnerving.
Was at a party in SSF few years ago and they flew over the house so low it was unbelievable, way out there, not just in the city.
Obnoxious.
I think the talent is amazing and I appreciate it, but save it for war and drilling away from populated areas and I'll appreciate it even more.

about living in SF is when those fuckers were wasting fuel and the noise and vibrations they caused.
I lived three blocks from the Bay. When they practiced, my windows would rattle so hard, I thought they would break. Moreover, it is an anxiety provoking practice in earthquake country. AND it really sucks when you have PTSD.
I was at the Marina Green once as I watched one jet fly UNDER the GG bridge. Is that still legal?

... when they would practice for the Phoenix show every year. We'd go out in the parking lot and watch all afternoon. Not much got done on those days, but they made a lot of new fans. :)
Most of the high-speed, low altitude flyovers went right over our heads, as we had 5,000 acres of undeveloped land for them to cross. We could just about read the names on the helmets in the cockpit. Definitely a fun show to watch.
Sorry you aren't able to enjoy it like we did.
