To torture or not call it torture, that is the question. According to a devastating report in the New York Times, Abu Gonzales' Justice Department secretly issued an opinion in early 2005 that allowed heinous interrogation techniques the Bush Crime Family previously denied were occurring. The Times reports: "The Justice Department issued a secret opinion in 2005 authorizing use of painful physical and psychological tactics against terror suspects, including simulated drownings and freezing temperatures. That secret opinion, which explicitly allowed using the painful methods in combination, came a year after a 2004 opinion in which Justice publicly declared torture 'abhorrent' and the administration seemed to back away from claiming authority for such practices."

Yesterday's press gaggle (sadly, not recorded publically for your listening pleasure) was a real treat. Too Much Capuccino Perino put her mighty mouth into overdrive, dancing and dodging around the issue, confirming the existence of the classified opinion but refusing to comment on whether it authorized specific practices, such as head-slapping and simulated drowning.

Thanx! I think she's OK. She's feeling better and her blood work will be back Monday, so I'll know if there are any changes. She's only lost 2 oz since last year, so that's not a big deal. She's doing well considering and the vet agrees. If her symptoms come back, she'll be off to the vet immediately. But for now, it looks like LuLu will be with us for quite a while yet !!!

smacked the top of my foot on the end of a leg of my bouncing bounder. It hurt like hell, but I didn't notice the swelling until I went inside. OMG. I put foot in a pan of ice water. It helped a little but today my entire foot is swollen like a giant sausage. And there's a large red spot in the middle. I may go to Dr. but I think she'll just tell me to ice it and taken Advil. When I was in college, I bought these boots. They were the best boots EVER!!! Whenever I put them on, I felt like Cindy Crawford. The first time I wore them to school, I got off the bus feeling like I was the shit cause I was all hot in my boots. I trotted across the street, stepped onto the curb, took a few steps and did a nose dive in front of the lunch truck that was always parked in front of the school. Hope all is well with you. I was almost to school this afternoon (about a block away) when the boys called to tell me that the meeting about the Europe trip had been cancelled because not enough people signed up, thus the trip was cancelled. Disappointed to say the least.

Maybe they'll get to go when they're in college. When I was in college, there were school organized trips to Europe over spring break.

The year after I went to France, all the European trips were cancelled. It was the mid-80s and there were a couple of hijacking incidents and shootings in various cities (if I remember correctly, one was at a nightclub in Germany). It was a couple of years before they did the trips again.
