Chris Matthews says Bush administration has "finally been caught in their criminality"
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 10:16 PM by RamboLiberal
-----

Matthews began his remarks by declaring that he wanted to "make some news" and he certainly didn't disappoint. After praising the drafters of the First Amendment for allowing him to make a living, he outlined what he said was the fundamental difference between the Bush and Clinton administrations.

The Clinton camp, he said, never put pressure on his bosses to silence him.

“Not so this crowd,” he added, explaining that Bush White House officials -- especially those from Vice President Cheney's office -- called MSNBC brass to complain about the content of his show and attempted to influence its editorial content. "They will not silence me!" Matthews declared.

"They've finally been caught in their criminality," Matthews continued, although he did not specify the exact criminal behavior to which he referred. He then drew an obvious Bush-Nixon parallel by saying, “Spiro Agnew was not an American hero."

Matthews left the throng of Washington A-listers with a parting shot at Cheney: “God help us if we had Cheney during the Cuban missile crisis. We’d all be under a parking lot.”

Oh and Tweety thinks his confrontation with Jon Stewart left Stewart "crestfallen" and Tweety "victorious"

My thoughts exactly. And you know, sometimes I wonder if Chris knows what he believes in
He seems to want to have it both ways sometimes.....carrying the water for the GOP, and then taking them to task.

Does he know what he believes in?

Be happy for your victory. It's as hollow as a Bush promise.

3. No thanks to tweety of course
If it were up to him he'd still be getting moist every night drooling over the boy king's sock-filled space suit.

And if he thinks Stewart was crestfallen over that interview he really is living in bizarro world.

8. I think Tweety is clinically ill
and I'm not being facetious. There is something very wrong with him. The interview with his wife today was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen on television. He is suffering from some kind of grandiosity related personality disorder.

14. My thoughts exactly Ruggerson! I actually was stunned as his asked his wife what it was like to be
married to HIM! To be on the other side of his world. The interview was like something right out of the Twilight Zone. He is definitely suffering from some type of mental illness or narcissistic personality disorder.

29. All Tweety criticisms aside, I'll take what I can get.
It's about goddamned time, yes. But at least it was said. It's a marginally important development because it comes from someone who once came close to worshipping BushCo and who has a reasonably large audience (relatively speaking).

31. BS. He says whatever will get hackles up in either camp, and as evidenced by the
multitude of posts on DU . He's not irrelevant, but he's part of the problem. Do not think that from now on he'll be an unbiased, independent journalist.

I haven't watched him since the 2004 VP debates, after which he was awed by Cheney and thought Edwards was a squirrel in the gun sights of Cheney's bear gun.

This guy is not worth the time.

35. Tweety would call the pope the Antichrist if he thought it would
get him one more viewer. The man is beyond delusional. He is tap dancing so fast his feet are a blur trying to catch up to Keith Olbermann's ratings. He hasn't had a change of heart on Chucklenuts or Dead Eye Dick (he dreams every night of catching either one of them in a bathroom stall in Minneapolis), he is just trying to save his own ass. First, last and always it is about Tweety.

Have you noticed the difference between Tweety's 10th anniversary and Keith's? Both have been at MSNBC for 10 years (well, with a brief interlude for Keefer). Tweety throws himself a pandering, shilling, goofy as hell party inviting his wife to interview him to celebrate (this is an annual event - remember 7 years! 8 years! 9 years! WTF?) while Keith casually mentions it on his show this week.

And it certainly wasn't an accident that Tweets "anniversary" just happened to fall the same week he had a tacky, lame, inane book coming out.

And he thinks he got the best of Jon Stewart? Somebody up Tweets meds, he is getting to be a danger to society with such a disconnect to reality.

38. Couldnt agree more. I revise my earlier statement that these guys are irrelevant. I
think they are irresponsible and a danger to democracy in that they contribute to lower public discourse, confusion, misinformation, deception, and polarization. Some are worse than Matthews but it's the same disease.

I embarrassed to continue the conversation about Matthews.
