Bush: "You bet we’re going to detain ‘em, and you bet we’re going to question ‘em."

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2007/10/bush_defends_terrorist_interro.html#more

President Bush, facing new questions about his administration’s tactics in the interrogation of suspected terrorists, said today that interrogators are acting lawfully, gaining useful information and will continue to press detainees for leads.

“I have put this program in place for a reason -- that is to better protect the American people,’’ Bush said in an impromptu statement from the Oval Office this morning. “You bet we’re going to detain ‘em, and you bet we’re going to question ‘em.’’

The president’s remarks follow a report that his former attorney general had advised the government’s interrogators that tough tactics in interrogation would be permissible – including head-slapping, water-boarding and exposure to freezing cold.

“This government does not torture people,’’ the president said today. “We stick to U.S. law and our international obligations.’’

7. Video Clip. When channel surfing earlier
I caught this statement. I can't even comment on the contempt I feel, but back to the clip. There is something very very wrong about his physical condition. He was either recovering from a bender or still inebriated? drugged up? Very scary.

Just found it.

11. I saw him as I walked by the TV and holy shit
did he look like he was rode hard and put away wet. Plus he sounded almost hysterically screechy. Very defensive I thought.

It was like driving past a really bloody car wreck. You don't want to look but you can't turn away.

Where were you on 9/11/01?

The president’s remarks follow a report that his former attorney general had advised the government’s interrogators that tough tactics in interrogation would be permissible – including head-slapping, water-boarding and exposure to freezing cold.

Say, Pricktator, how 'bout applying these same permissible tactics to members of your administration, if only they'd show up when subpoenaed.

9. This man is a complete coward. He's so afraid of another attack on his watch that he
will do anything: destroy our rights, the Constitution, break a thousand treaties, break international law, destroy whole countries and populations. He's the most cowardly man I've ever seen.

10. What Goes Around, Comes Around
And Bush Detainment Day will surpass Christmas, Yom Kippur, Eid and Dewani as a holiday. Unlike Guy Fawkes Day, or May Day, Armistice DAy, V-J Day, or any other national holiday, BDD will be the first World-Wide Holiday. It will be celebrated like no other day in the year, and people will cheer. And it will be non-commercialized, for corporate shame will prevent any such cynicism.
