Lets get real
People walk around the streets of this country with knifes, and guns all the time. People are shot in the streets, kids are being molested, adults are giving our children harmful drugs, women are being beaten by their husbands (and vise versa sometimes), people get drunk and drive all the time.

People die! It is a fact, and making a woman remove her bra to prove that she isn't conceling a wepon is stupid. Not only that it is humiliating, and a wast of resources.

People, there is no way to ensure your safety at all times. It just isn't possible. There are bad people in this world, and if they are determined to hurt someone, all the security in the world couldn't help. If you honestly believe that an UNDERWIRE BRA, and proving that it is only that, is something that we should be doing in this country you are delusional. Women were wearing underwire bras long before 9/11, and this didn't seem to be an issue then, so what is the fucking problem?

Ok, now I am done with that rant. Sorry, this issue really struck a nerve with me.

3. It's time to take action. Support the NBA (National Bra Association).
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 02:20 PM by daninthemoon
Bra wearers were part of the foundation of this great nation. Don't let America become a land of the braless. They've already taken away corsets. Stand tall in defense of your given right to own and wear bras. I tell you this, only if they pry the bras from my cold dead fingers...:sarcasm:

edited to add the sarcasm smilie. Couldn't resist the joshing, but seriously I do think this a very bad sign of the deterioration of our rights and humanity.

4. Who would have thought that the American People were such craven cowards?
Before 2001 everyone, more or less, thought of Americans as being tough, courageous people who couldn't be scared into any kind of blackmail or tribute paying. But now everyone knows that the US public is lily-livered yellow-bellies who will give anyone anything they want, just don't hurt us! Take our freedoms, take our liberties, take our rights, take our justice, just please don't make us wet our undies! Waaaaa,waaaaa,waaaaa...Christ...

6. What sent me into this rant
is some of the responses from DU'ers who feel that this was ok. Mainly men if you notice.

5. well, I must admit I've asked my wife to remove her underwire bra
but that wasn't for my safety.

:)

sorry, ok, here's my real response: considering they handcuffed a woman who died under suspicious circumstances, the no fly lists, etc. I find the whole concept of security bizarre at what they will/won't allow.
I took a flight recently and saw them rudely searching a woman who obviously had cerebral palsy, in a wheelchair, and making her take off some of her clothes in full view of all the other passengers queing up for the gate. She kept saying "What are you doing? I'm not dangerous!" over and over again.
they waved other people through that looked more suspicious by far. I honestly don't get the criteria.

"Security" in this country is questionable. It makes me really sad actually.

9. High school kids are having their bones broken for spilling their
lunch. Airport "security" guards are getting more dangerous than the treat of terrorists. If someone put it in a movie, like 1984 kind of thing, no-one would believe what our life today has become. And it's only a matter of time before Blackwater is patrolling our neighborhhods. Amerika has taken some exceedingly wrong turns.

10. Well if y'all at Homeland Security are ready for it, I will board my plane to Peru, not wearing any
bra! However, I doubt that my fellow passengers will be happy.

11. I agree
While some of my posts on the subject were lighthearted and humorous, In all seriousness I think it is a bit ridiculous to force women to remove their bras, especially in the manner that the boorish security guards conducted themselves with this one. There has to be a better way of conducting the necessary searches for all people that avoids humiliation.

I do heartily encourage women to remove their bras voluntarily, but certainly never want to see them forced to do so.

17. Maybe you should
sign up as a security guard for that court house. Oh that is right, we hired you to do physical serches so no removing of clothing was necessary.

I love your humor, and how you walk the line just right.
