Does the re-broadcast of this pre-flip flop Romney TV ad END HIS CAMPAIGN???
I have been wondering if Romney would be able to sell the dominionist/fundamentalist Christians who vote in the Repub primary on Romney's argument that he reflects their "values" despite being a Mormon.

When I saw this pre-flip flop Romney ad, it seemed to me that Romney will simply fail at convincing the right-wing nutjobs that he shares their "values." Check out the TV spot and tell me if you agree:

P.S. - After I posted a similar question in GD:P, it occurred to me that this might be a phony ad created and circulated by another Republican campaign. Do you think this is a real ad from a prior Romney campaign or a spot created by one of Romney's rivals?

1. It says it was paid for by "The Log Cabin Republicans"
It doesn't look like Mitt made it himself.

3. Still, it shows actual footage of Romney standing up for Roe v. Wade, criticizing the NRA and Reagan
and fighting "the religious right." If that is a real ad run by the Log Cabin Republicans in support of Romney, and Romney didn't denounce it when it was run on his behalf, I think he's a goner.

4. You're probably right,
but I think he didn't have a chance before this. A few well worded Mormon questions or ads would destroy his chances.

2. Probably not. He's a Republican. They welcomed VITTER back,
sh*tty diapers and all. They don't care. Nothing they do is ever wrong. This'll blow over. Just ask Mark Foley. They have no values, only self-interest.

What MIGHT end his career would be a PICTURE of his shit-covered car after strapping his dog to the top of it for that trip. But, it might not, either. The story of it blew over pretty fast.

6. So this ad definitely ran in Massachusetts during Romney's campaign for Governor and he didn't
distance himself from it?

7. Rudy G. is imploding & Fred is gasping for air.
The Fundies won't vote for Rudy G. & maybe even run their own Fundie Candidate. I sure hope they do.

Mitt will get the nod & the Fundies will avoid the voting booth in droves.

Bush family hedges its bets for 2008
By Alexander Bolton
March 26, 2007

Much of Jeb’s inner circle has picked Romney. The list includes Sally Bradshaw, who served as Gov. Bush’s campaign manager in 1994 and 1998 and as his first gubernatorial chief of staff; Ann Herberger, who was the governor’s campaign finance director; and Mandy Fletcher, who recently headed Bush’s think tank, Foundation for Florida’s Future, and worked on his reelection. In addition, Alan Philp, Bush’s former policy director, is coordinating policy and issues for Romney.

Jeb Bush’s former lieutenant governor Toni Jennings, Al Cardenas, who served as Florida GOP chairman under Jeb, David Griffin, who headed Jeb’s second -term transition office and was the Florida Lottery Secretary, Sherri McVay, executive director of Jeb’s statewide advocacy council, and Kristy Campbell, the former governor’s press secretary, are all playing roles in Romney’s campaign.

8. No, those remarks in the ad happened during his failed run against Ted Kennedy
He ran for governor as a prochoice, OK-With-The-Gays candidate. There was no issue initially. It's only when he declared for Prez that everyone started roaring hystericallly, because they KNEW what he'd said in the past.

Gay GOP Group Targets Romney In Funny New Ad
By Greg Sargent - October 4, 2007, 1:34PM

This is just too funny. The Log Cabin Republicans, a gay GOP group, is running a new ad in Iowa that seeks to undercut Mitt Romney's standing with social conservatives by praising his past record of doing battle with conservatives on social issues when he was governor of liberal Massachusetts.

The ad uses quotes from his past ads and clips of him declaring his social liberalism during debates when he ran for Senate against Ted Kennedy in 1994. It seeks to highlight Romney's record fighting on behalf of liberal issue positions against conservatives -- whose support, of course, he needs right now as he seeks to win Iowa and other states in the GOP Primary.

One great quote features an uplifting female voice declaring: "For years, he's fought conservatives and religious extremists." And the ad closes by saying that "Massachusetts values" his record -- the state of Massachusetts, of course, being perceived as the Ninth Circle of Liberal Hell by many conservatives.

Interestingly, the Log Cabin Republicans aren't being very direct about why they're running the ad, claiming its his flip-flopping in general that inspired it. Indeed, the ad itself makes no mention of Romney's positions on gay issues, highlighting instead his past social liberalism on other issues, such as abortion.
