Helen Thomas Reports: "Hillary Getting Messages from Bush on Iraq Strategy!"
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 06:09 PM by KoKo01

The Democratic Leadership and the party’s leading presidential candidates when it comes to his failing Iraq policy.
Those Democrats seem to have forgotten that the American people want U.S. troops out of Iraq, especially since Bush still cannot give a credible reason for attacking Iraq after nearly five years of war.

-snip-

To have major Democratic backing to stay the course in Iraq added up to good news for Bush.

Now comes a surprising Clinton fan.

President Bush told Bill Sammon — Washington Examiner correspondent and author of a new book titled “The Evangelical President” — that Clinton will beat Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination because she is a “formidable candidate” and better known.

Sammon says Bush revealed that he has been sending messages to Clinton to urge her to “maintain some political wiggle room in your campaign rhetoric about Iraq.”

The author said Bush contends that whoever inherits the White House will be faced with a potential vacuum in Iraq and “will begin to understand the need to continue to support the young democracy.”

Bush ought to know about campaign rhetoric. Remember how he ridiculed “nation building” in the 2000 presidential campaign? Now he claims he is trying to spread democracy throughout the Middle East.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is another Democratic leader who has empowered Bush’s war.

Pelosi removed a provision from the most recent war-funding bill that would have required Bush to seek the permission of Congress before launching any attack on Iran. Her spokesman gave the lame excuse that she didn’t like the wording of the provision. More likely, she bowed to political pressure.

Is it any wonder the Democrats are faring lower than the president in a Washington Post ABC approval poll? Bush came in at 33 percent and Congress at 29 percent.

6. Take a deep breath. Why do you believe anything Bush says?
Just because Bush is giving "advice" doesn't mean HRC will follow it.

4. Clinton AND Pelosi know better than to walk alongside Bush.
What's going on? He must have a lot of info on them to get them to do his bidding. All we need is to continue the Bush policy in Iraq. I didn't know that about Pelosi. Good grief!

14. No they believe it because it is a negative against Hillary
and the Hillary basher would believe she has an AK 47 aimed at her opponents just waiting for a chance to fire it off. They are hopeless.

11. Not surprising seeing how the Bush's and Clintons are buddies and Bill
covered up HW's crimes of Iran Contra. Carrying on the great tradition of covering up for each other and making sure the 2 family dynasty keeps going.

18. Liberal anti-Hillary spin and Where exactly did you get that quote you posted?
Your quote says: "Hillary getting messages from Bush on Iraq strategy" yet this quote doesnot appear in the article. In fact, the article states that Bush says he is sending tthe Clinton campaign messages.

The article doesn't even say that Hillary is responding to him.

And, yet the progressice DU posters say "burn her" "She's a bit too cozy with Bush."

Where is the analytical thought on DU? Where is the inteleectual progressive nature of analysis with these posters?

23. no.....I just think Sammon's record as a liar supercedes her reportorial instincts in this case.
just my own instincts here, and I really can't stomach Sammon. did you hear about his performance on Washington Journal this morning, for example?

that said, nothing surprises me WRT to politicians and the ugly beds they make/sleep in.

anything's possible, but if this is true.....well, I can't think of too many more disgusting bedfellows, can you?

it just means Bush is trying to send messages. It doesn't say they are considered or returned.

32. wow. you're reading a lot into my responses, aren't you?
of course she knows him...they worked for the same guy at one time, for starters.

my point is that Sammon has zero credibility, and I was going to mention that the only reason I can think of that she DID believe his bilge is because she DOES know him, and these reporters cut each other too much slack.

31. You can
increase my dread and conviction concerning a Hillary presidency up to the point where she is actually a raving secret Bush dynasty love child. let me know when you get there. the campaign to split the liberal
progressives from the "inevitable" Clinton nomination spins according to GOp agendas, not ours. the reason this is happening is because the democratic wing is not solidly behind any Clinton alternative. there fore divided, we are prey to weak games like this.

IF Clinton is nominated OR anyone else, nothing changes regarding the grim challenge for dem progressives to effect party and national change. The degrees and challenges will vary, with surprising opportunities and barriers.

Electing a GOP stooge for the Bush corporatist empire is a no go. Then we will be sharpening spears and looking wistfully to the hills, not to the next pure liberal hope eight years from now.

If however, such things begin to disturb Hillary supporters, that is their business to defend themselves judgment or, hopefully, change it to a better reality.

The GOP pundits are not just trying to pimp Hillary, they are trying to divide and destroy so we all lose with her at the same time.

Because they want to steal it all and unite to get it.
