Jack Abernethy is Chief Executive Officer, Fox Television Stations, Inc., a unit of News Corporation that includes the Fox Television Stations group and Twentieth Television. He has held the position since December 2004. In this capacity, he oversees the 35 FOX owned-and-operated stations and duopolies in the nation’s largest television markets, including WNYW-TV and WWOR-TV in New York; KTTV-TV and KCOP-TV in Los Angeles; Chicago’s WFLD-TV and WPWR-TV; WTXF-TV in Philadelphia; WFXT-TV in Boston; and Washington, D.C.’s WTTG-TV. A leader in the domestic program production and distribution arena, Twentieth Television provides an array of first-run and off-network programming, as well as feature film packages, to the syndication and cable marketplaces. Prior to this position, Mr. Abernethy served as the Executive Vice President of FOX News, where he helped develop long-term strategic and business plans for the successful launch of what is today the number-one rated cable news channel. His responsibilities at FOX News evolved to include oversight of finance, human resources, legal affairs, affiliate sales and marketing and the network's website.
Mr. Abernethy also spearheaded the launch of FOX News Radio to more than 500 stations across the country, including an exclusive agreement with Clear Channel for hourly reports and a nightly news broadcast. Before joining FOX News, Mr. Abernethy had a long and distinguished career with General Electric where, over a 15-year period, he held a variety of executive finance management positions at the NBC Television Stations division before being named Vice President of Finance and Operations for CNBC. Mr. Abernethy received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Georgetown University and his MBA degree from New York University.
